I hate Cougar for how clickbaity all of his stuff is, but come on Parents nowadays are notorious for leaving their children unsupervised with a phone and then bitching that their child is watching this kind of stuff, when they're the one leaving them to their devices (pun intended) And then people want everyone else blamed and changed, because they themselves won't change how bad of a parent they are to give a shit about their child and what they're doing on the internet, until it's too late They want the internet to become child friendly by handicapping everyone else, instead of working on themself and helping their child explore the internet in a safe way

This can range from goofing off during your work time, to strait up OSHA violations. The photos in question show at worst suggestive themes, in which adult content is hinted at. Suggestive themes can be found in many games aimed at teenagers; for example Rachet and Clank has so many body humor and sex jokes. There's the titles, like Going Commando or Up Your Arsenal to name a few. And that's not even getting into the in game jokes.

Also people just assume all kids and even teens are innocent like bruh what highschool did you go do where your peers weren't talking about sex and porn and moaning in the lunchroom. (All things my peers did in highschool) Teenagers, especially older ones, are fucking gross as hell and that's just the reality. It’s disappointing to see people do these weird “crusades” against people when there’s frankly bigger fish to fry. While I’m not the biggest fan of fan service comics and the dubs that come out of them, they’re not really the problem here at all. PARENTS NEED TO WATCH WHAT THERE KIDS WATCH PLAIN AND SIMPLE! Kids have way to much unfiltered access period. A discussion can be had about parents mental state/free time for sure but at the end of the day they need to be getting a handle on what there children see just as much as KZbin needs to properly filter things. If these kids actually said something like “KZbin doesn’t properly filter these videos out like they should”, which is true and a separate discussion to be had, then at least they’d have some kind of point but this is just ridiculous.

On one hand, I get where they're coming from. Cougar runs what I'd call a content farm, one which leans on things that are super popular with kids (despite any creators' intents or age ratings). That's how stuff like his gets so many views - mass appeal. It isn't "made for kids", but it isn't really content made for *adults* either, not explicitly, despite the heavily suggestive clickbait thumbnails and titles and such. Those thumbnails are usually way more suggestive than any of the content in the videos too, which is more just a pet peeve. (One thing I never hear anyone mention: he *constantly* repeats character names in the dubs when they aren't in the text of the comics. That and all of the silly riffs, and the VAs' intonations, it all feels super key-jangling. However, they're only getting mad at the thumbnails and not even watching the videos, so...) From personal experience as a former child, it's popular with kids (well, young teenagers) because of puberty. Just because it's not marked as "made for kids" doesn't mean kids won't watch it! That's the way of the internet, we just need to be mindful of it. It's good that Cougar is doing his part with the content advisory warnings for suggestive subjects now. On the other hand... These people are so serious about it? When it's super unnecessary?? It's clickbait. It's *egregious* clickbait, but it's just CLICKBAIT. This is very silly outrage. There's only really a couple examples of Cougar's thumbnails being "too far" even for a teen audience, and those are somewhat old examples that I haven't even seen these guys mention, so what's even the point except to just be mad? Like, at the VERY least, he isn't one of those guys doing dubs of straight up p0rn comics and just cropping out or cutting around the naughty parts. (I don't want YT to autodelete this comment, sorry.) Also, just wanted to say: your thumbnail art is some of my favorite stuff from Cougar. So uh...thanks! Keep up the good work? Sorry for the essay, I just have a lot of thoughts about this sorta thing, most of those thoughts being "this isn't that serious, this is all so annoying to me".

i find it a little weird though, because if kids are that young and innocent, which, at some point all kids are, they won't even realize what sexual content is and if it's there unless it's something extremely obvious like their parents honeymoon tape....it's the type of thing that adults will complain about and make weird and awkard.... By this same logic, no kid should watch sailor moon, look at how much skin they show, look at those pretty (excuse me, seXuAl) transformation sequences with their smooth (excuse me, seXuAl) silouettes, short skirts, battle bikinis lol, etc. even though it's something me and so many kids and adults love in an extremely wholesome way.... on the other side of the spectrum, i'm not gonna be the one to pretend that bronycons are/were pg13 lol, even though they were based on a show aimed fundamentally at kids, at first. But i think it's pretty clear at this point that a huge chunk of it comes down to the viewer or community and how they choose to interact with certain media... will they make wholesome oc's with their own outfits like a kid most likely did in the 90's with sailor moon? will they say "please think of the children" at the scenes of neptune and saturn? will they get outraged at the sailor starlights? will they get wholesome pony toys to braid their hair? or will they make thirsty body pillows out of them? And seriously....at no point was youtube created as a rated E for everyone site....it sort of happened along the way that some channels created kid oriented content, but that doesn't mean the site suddenly owes it to the parents to be blindly chosen as a babysitter replacement. You know what fixes that? get more involved, or ditched youtube for your kid altogether, stick to streaming services, cartoon network shows, disney and pixar movies, nickelodeon, dreamworks, disney+ etc (and even if they aren't "great", ilumination). When you had to watch vhs tapes, there was no risk of watching something "wrong" unless your parent said "sure pick wathever" and never checked what you brought home lol. same applies here. Or when p2p started, you could download anything....even porn, unless your parent knew better than to never check at all what you were getting access to if you were THAT young were this would be an issue (who cares if a teen sees a thumbnail like that lol, a lot of teenagers are horny af pretty early lol, some won't think of it until they reach college, some will get pregnant, it's just how it goes)

I feel personally this uh may have been a bit in poor taste; to be honest I mean you ARE a 40 year old making ig lewdish nsfw art for thumbnails on you tube. While yes adults should monitor their children's content its also important as a content creator to know what ur posting and be aware of what u are doing. Poppy playtime may be 13+ (which is still children anyway) but maybe kids under that age watch poppy playtime content farms and that's not really a hidden thing i think its decently well known. if u search poppy playtime most of the stuff IS very dumb down baby content. I would say i know a 17 entering the chat to get attention maybe could translate as warranted harassment but again i mean..u are a 40 year old and they are a 17 year old..it doesn't take much to have the maturity to just either kick them out of the chat or to actually drop the convo if that's what u wished. u have a right to do what u want online; that doesn't mean its outrageous for people to be upset or not agree with things. I think cougar handled this whole thing decently and while i also agree the clickbait and nsfw is distasteful this was definitely a worse way to go about it. This whole thing is kinda yuck tho; everyone knows children content farms and little kids arent always on youtube kids and that they watch tadc or fnaf or poppy playtime so this is just all kinda in poor taste.

I don't really care about this drama, but parents basically use the internet and tablets to raise their kids now instead of slapping them in front of a tv and they do have a responsibility to wrangle them and provide support and enrichment.
