@guttergrown was here That's the problem with anarchy that I am seeing - there's no way to enforce it without some centralized control, which means you no longer have anarchy. No matter what, some individuals are going to form groups and coalitions, giving them more power over individuals not in groups or coalitions. Eventually, everyone joins groups and coalitions for protections, causing them to grow and compete for dominance. Eventually, they seek control over other groups and become governments. Organized crime and government are essentially the same thing.

It wouldnt go anywhere unless it was very tightly moderated. There is fundementally a deep dislike against each other. The Keynsian fundamentally needs the "authority" of the state to keep the system functioning. Generally the Austrian sees that "authority" as illegitimate or at least the primary threat to freedom. He obviously is an expert on economics but he still hasn't sold me on bitcoin. We've been told for years that bitcoin is a hedge against inflation. If that's true, why has bitcoin lost more than 50% of its value at the same time that USD inflation has reached 40-year highs? Secondly, of what use is bitcoin if it is rarely used as a means of exchange? When I buy bitcoin I am simply hoping it goes up so I can sell it to a "greater fool" later on. Until it gains wide adoption as a form of currency it is a purely speculative asset.
@NuJakeL2 жыл бұрын
@@sinatra222 When the inflation happened (March 2020 onwards), Bitcoin was around $4,000-$5,000. Prices going up are a consequence of inflation, not inflation itself. So, you would have protected yourself pretty well. Since November 2021 the US has stopped inflating (see M2 money supply), hence the Bitcoin price, and almost every other asset class has come down. I have written a book, BITCOIN & EXPONENTIAL FREEDOM, explaining why they can’t stop inflating. To your second point, as the adoption of Bitcoin grows, the more widely used it will become, but this won’t happen overnight and the price will reflect this adoption.

Money is our TIME and ENERGY printed on a piece of paper. We exchange the time we couldve spent with our children, our youth until we are old, our meals we couldve had with our families, the holidays we missed, that 1 hour commute to sit in traffic, the energy we couldve instead reserved to take our children to the park but instead we leave it at work, the 4 hours of sleep to get up at 6AM to do it all over again for the majority of our lives. For a govt to print money in the TRILLIONS and rob is blind of all the aforementioned, is a crime against humanity. It is my belief that if more ppl viewed all this "quantitative easing" and "benefits handouts", there would be riots on the streets anytime Biden or any politician even suggested sending its citizens hard earned money to frivolous and short term programs and unnecessary spending.

Religion attempted to shed light on their reality with the serpent story but it distorted into Satan and demons. Reptilians are native to Earth and beLIEve it is solely theirs. They can possess men if they are highly egoic and not very conscious. Most secret societies (governments) are highly infiltrated by them. Their plan is all but human extinction and total domination. THEY are the ones destroying food production facilities, killing mass amounts of cattle, chickens, ect. Burning crops and creating genetic "meat" (Bill Gates.) If you ask who is "they", Reptillians or government ? you are awakening to the fact they are one in the same. The things you have awakened to, you would have thought "conspiracy theory" not long ago. I'm so relieved by the segment about saving versus investing (around 1 hour and 50 minutes into interview). I've always felt guilty about not spending time and effort to learn more about investing because I imagined it probably didn't require all that much. Now I finally have someone explain to me how this is nearly impossible unless I want to make it my full time job, I don't feel so bad about my decision to just gamble on index funds instead. Also, wow, never had someone explain how utterly fraudulent our whole system is. Mashed potatoes.

I came to the same conclusions a few years ago by reading The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham (Buffet's mentor). If you're going to beat the market, you're going to essentially have to make it your job and track stocks all day which is not a life I want to live. Day trading is for suckers. The number of people who succeed at it are succeeding mostly out of luck in the same way that individuals of a species survive environmental pressures. Sure, some of them are surviving because they have higher fitness but there are tons of perfectly fit individuals who _don't_ make it. On a broader scale, think about avian vs non-avian dinosaurs in the KT extinction event. The avian (old money) dinosaurs just got lucky from the dinosaur group. The unfit (new money) mammals suddenly had a giant open market to exploit. Markets are like that. Although I'm broke at the moment, if I was investing, I'd just be buying boring index index funds and holding.

One of the best podcast episodes I've ever listened to, So relevant and so important ! Thank you for this gem!!

3:30:30 I like how Saifedean shuts down Lex's wide-eyed "open-minded" philosophy. We should consider direct evidence and arguments rather than a hippyish vibe that everything deserves consideration. "Be open-minded, but not so open-minded that your brain falls out."
@roadrunner96222 жыл бұрын
IMO, open-mindedness is a beginning state that should still lead to a narrowed set of beliefs that accurately align with the truth. Open-mindedness cannot be a perpetual state of never-knowing, of always attributing equal value to every idea and statement.

I’m really happy that you provide this really long format for in-depth conversations with all manner of guests. Allowing yourself the time to probe and challenge the guest and give them the time to fully explain their points is a fantastic service to the world that is lacking in other forms of media. This is the gold standard of podcasting.

Lex thank you for pushing back on some of Saifedeanss answers. Amazing work by both of you, but towards the end I, like Lex, didn't sit right with how polarized and biased Saifedean sounded. I didn't like his attitude towards people who don't agree with him. I am a Bitcoin fan by the way.
@SteamalbRushu2 жыл бұрын
I didn't at first too but I got used to it and it's actually very funny and I wouldn't want him to change on that. It also helps to take a strong stance instead of dancing around the topic. Unfortunately it plays against his popularity

@@SteamalbRushu it's all nice for podcasting from your basement but at some point you've got to sit with the adults and make decisions that require collaboration.

The intro context to MONEY was incredible. People don't think money is needed or the "creation" of money through debt . . . . but then like mentioned the "future" is unknown, so we need to put the value "some where". This is just as important as the division of labor. I also like how Saifedean held his ground about his beliefs and attitude towards Keynes Economics.

@@logann001 Do Japan and El Salvador have big guns?
@logann0012 жыл бұрын
@@dannyarcher6370 No, but russia china, india, Pakistan, France and others have 👍. They cant stop it mate, no matter how much you wish they could. And believe me, when governments introduce CBDCs and control everything you can buy, bitcoin will be the only asset they cant seize, and if you think they can, then you've never studied a decentralized technology. And one day your even buy it, or become controlled, your call I guess. 13 years and getting stronger every day . . .
@dannyarcher63702 жыл бұрын
@@logann001 Now, you're putting words in my mouth. I don't "wish they could". I'm just saying, gold was stopped. BTC is arguably even easier to stop. And I'm not sure what you mean when you say that they can't seize BTC. Governments are already seizing BTC from people far smarter than the person I'm conversing with right now. PS: It appears my point about big guns went straight over your head.

I agree with Saifedean 100%. I'm an educated economist and it took me 10 years, after school, to reverse the brainwashing: harder to unwind is what is never mentioned and given to you as a foundational assumption of truth. Everyone of their (economist) mathematical models brakes down when you use a negative interstate rate, I think about $20 trillion worth globally today. The 120 years before the 1913 creation of the Fed had no inflation and there has never been more economic growth prosperity and quality of life improvements. I think he did miss the point of if you do not have a good store of value other assets (ie homes) become that for you with artificially rases the price and punishes younger generations from trying to acquiring those assets.
