Saifedean is indisputably the ‘Dean’ of sound monetary Economics.

I don't watch Football but based on this interview I'll be a Liverpool fan. As to your question at the end, no I'm not new to Austrian economics. Tom Wood's show is great, as is Dave Smith's. Tom Woods is an academic, Dave Smith is more of an entertainer but still a really smart advocate for Austrian-econ informed libertarianism.

I love how Safedean "gets" economics *and* also understands how fucked up health and nutrition recommendations are. I wonder what the connection is... maybe it's when you take a red pill in one field, it kind of cascades into other parts of life also? At least that's been the case for me: understanding the fuckup our monetary system and economic planning is resulted in me distrusting any kind of authority or central body, really, and to ask questions and do research for myself.

The analogy of bittorrent being not so relevant because streaming services came to existence in relation to how bitcoin could potentially become less relevant in a future due to corporate money or central bank money becoming easier to use by the population is a great one

Aldo, I think you should buy lots and lots of corporate bitcoin competitors ;)

Enjoyed the interview! What could kill Bitcoin. If the world economy would be based again on a gold standard, that would undermine the usecase of it. Is this correct? I’ve heard many people argue that bitcoin has the same use case a gold. In a gold standard the value of gold would increase tremendously, decrease the power of governments to finance their war, and wouldn’t everything move towards a direction where bitcoin would be increasingly important to provide liquidity to this new economy? I don’t see Bitcoin loosing importance in this scenario...

If we are concerned that bitcoin might scare central banks into practicing their arts in a more prudent manner, I think it’s safe to say that we’re going to have bitcoin around for quite a long time

That is the only thing I see that would truly kill the trajectory that bitcoin is on right now as far as adoption, price, and to an extent, utilization.

Saifedean is the perfect example of somebody who's gone too far down the rabbit hole on libertarianism. Some very interesting thoughts, but then he starts talking about climate change not being real, and we're all being fooled by fiat science. Or he talks about free-market healthcare being a better system, despite the United States having worse outcomes, whilst spending twice the GDP per capita on healthcare spending. He's turned libertarianism into an ideology and is closed-minded to other viewpoints.

yes agree. His book is great, however the guy supports monarchy over democracy and other strange stuff
