Mads if you want a precision cut with a jigsaw, just clamp a straight edge on the side of the wood or metal of the work piece and use it as a guide. I have always found the offset is 33 mm on most jigsaws. This has worked for me for years, if it drifts out you can always go back and trim. Another great vid 😊

So hey man, there’s this stuff called flow trawl you can put it in with your high gloss paint it’ll cut down on flash and it’ll flatten out your brushstrokes so that’ll help but if you get dust all over your dip cup and then you dip your paintbrush in there then you’ll still have dirt on the surface that you have painted so you might want to remove the dust from the area first and then like I said, if you add flow trawl to the paint it will keep it from flashing and it will also allow it to level better and it will allow it to be workable, a little bit longer and hot conditions

PTFE tape is all there seems to be for non-paste thread sealing. There are non-PTFE sealers, but the actual "Non PFOS/PFAS" rated stuff is Gasoila - NT and is food grade. There are other non-ptfe pastes but they don't have the certification "Non-PTFE" as they are made in plants where PTFE is also being made, and yes, the certs are that picky, even if no equipment is shared, you can't claim PTFE/Fluorine Free, unless it is a separate building. But the NT is now priced inline with their other products at $15 a 8 oz/236 ml bottle. No convenient tape style has been developed, that I can find (we need it at work, so I did a LOT of digging for a while. NT used to be $25/8 oz)

Be careful storing filtered water in your tanks. Water without chlorination sitting in tanks has a nasty habit of going bad, and I mean BAD" , when exposed to heat and stagnation. I had this happen in my RV when I filtered the water going into the tanks during the summer. Solution was to place the water "as is" from a public water system and remove the chlorine with a carbon filter only at the time of use. Any water sitting for more than 1 week was flushed from the tanks as precaution.

Mads, when you get to the U.S. you will be intrigued to find that while the home stores all supply 1/2” pex fittings, the boat builders (e.g. Catalina) seem to use 15mm pex. This can be a tad infuriating at times since a "galley faucet" will be twice as expensive as the same "kitchen faucet". Many of us simply convert the "last few inches" of plumbing to match whatever fixture we need. Whale is the most common supplier of 15mm pex fittings you will find in the U.S. but there are a couple of others. The only real difference appears to be how the various manufacturers deal with the locking collet on the fitting. Love the channel, we tried to catch you guys at the boat show but we were on a schedule 😢.

If you are looking for some less than tasty water right out of the tap to test just how effective your new water purifier is then look forward to when you finally get to the great cruising Mecca of Oriental North Carolina. The water out of the tap there will give you a test of your system that few other water utilities will be able to match in the USA. It's totally safe to drink, don't get me wrong. You will just want to not do so if you have another option. We haul bottles from the vending Ice Machine near the Piggly Wiggly where they also sell the same RO water that they use to make the ice there. They had to put an RO system into the.automated ice maker and vending machine or else nobody would buy the ice there if it was made directly from the local tap water. I think they only charged$0.25/gallon so it isn't bad but it is a long way to haul it in a bike trailer back to the harbor.

Personally as I have to paint with clear varnish trims (but not only) in the inside of a boat I prefer to use water based products. For an interior use they will last for ages cos' they are not exposed to sunrays and water and without breathing the very noxious vapours of polyester/epoxy/alkidic..or many other thinner based paints I hope to last a little bit longer too.....

Works on all plumbing, it is simply the best stuff, fast and always holds tight. It is also food grade. I have built a massive water based heating system on our refit alubat, it is also what we use offshore on oil platforms. For stainless steel it needs a second product, an activator.

Yes, I'm being snarky , but I am so old school. Blue tooth , phone monitoring, all that stuff. I don't get and don't understand how that makes a boat more seaworthy. ln my experience, 50 years of it, reaffirms the old adage "KISS", keep it simple, stupid. Now that same filter bought from the cheapest place I could find on the web which is called filters Plus charges 75 dollars for one filter and 130 dollars for the two pack. I have no idea why the price of these plastic pop in filters have got so damn expensive. When you are suppose to replace them every 6 months it starts to add up .varnishing is a lot better then Ole glorious sanding fiberglass.

Fun fact: If you taste or smell chlorine in the water, that means there isn't ENOUGH chlorine in it. The smell is a natural byproduct of disinfection as the chlorine breaks down into chloramines and there isn't enough chlorine left to overcome those chloramines in the disinfection process. The solution to that is to add nore chlorine to finish the process completely.
