Sealing up the hole in my "fridge" after installing an Isotherm cooling system (Classic 2006). I can't wait till I get to test out the "fridge" on some delicious food. I'm now one step closer to being ready to move aboard!

John Hoch Thank you so much! And thank you for leaving such an awesome comment! :) I'm glad you two get a good laugh out of my struggles with the English language ;) Perhaps as a celebration of 10.000 subscribers (if I ever get that many) I should do a blooper video (Ram Hadio, Vancouver Cove, Thermomostat etc etc) That might be fun ;)

Very innovative installation solutions, and I loved the absolutely hilarious you know what "cove" style bloopers at the end. LOL I have enough problems with my first language, let alone trying to become fluent in another. Great job as usual Mads!

Daniel Berry Thank you so much! :) You're kind as ever :) I'm sure if I got a chance to use my English on a daily basis for a prolonged period of time I would get rid of those "cove" style bloopers ;) After getting back home from the US I'm now stuck in purgatory. More than once I've switched to English mid conversation. Once I go cruising I suspect my Danish will become totally useless.

***** Years ago, I visited Brazil for a month, and lived with a family in Rio. After deplaning from my return flight back to the US, I needed to get cash from an ATM for my shuttle ride home, but it took me a good minute of staring at the screen before I could recognize the language, and read the instructions. They were in English. LOL

Railway World Thank you so much :) The string worked out great but I can't shake the feeling that there must be an easier way of lining up that insulation. I'm sure someone in the comments will come up with an awesome idea :) If all goes to plan I'll be using epoxy aboard the boat next weekend. That means I won't be able to stay aboard. The weekend after that however I plan on staying aboard and perhaps I'll even get to cook some "real" food aboard :)

Your projects are very well thought out and planned, as well as so helpful to us 'wannabe' sailors who don't have your experience or engineering mindset. Other than the string, I thought of perhaps using a stainless steel 'thru-bolt' with oversized washers (or drill a hole in cheap melamine dish plates and use that),on both sides, and a wingnut on the opposite side....Just a thought....
@SailLife
@SailLife 9 жыл бұрын
donjvalley Thank you so much! You're very kind :) Something along those lines was my initial idea, but I didn't have any of those things aboard the boat :) I imagine using a long bolt or threaded rod would be easier than the string I used :)

Mads-- great series on the fridge! I would have put crumpled (but still slightly compressible) newspaper in the box to hold the foam slightly proud, added the goo and then the lid until tacky. But I like your string idea better! Upward and onward to your next "inshulation" project!

I have just bought my first boat (off to pay for it in a minute) and you are partly to blame. I have enjoyed your videos and the way you make everything understandable for a lubber like me convinced me to take the plunge. I will be renaming the boat as I don't like it's current name. I am not sure if I should call it what everyone else will "Danger to shipping" or in your honour I might name it "The Thermomostat"

***** I have linked the boat below she is nothing grand but my daughter loved her from the moment she clapped eyes on her so that was that. There are a list of jobs that I am going to undertake so that she can be all she can be. I say a list of jobs according to the survey it might be a career. I will be keeping her in Brightlingsea the other side of the North Sea to you. I will take some snaps and video as she progresses but I probably won't upload them because I am camera shy and unlike you I don't have the legs for it. :) www.clarkeandcarter.co.uk/boats-for-sale/1973-tornado-31-4466759

Hi Mads, Ones again a very cool video from you hand :-) I did the exact same project last summer, I just didn’t put any insulation under the lid plate. What kind did you use? It did not look like normal polystyrene ( flamingo in danish). Kind regards Jacob Rousing
@SailLife
@SailLife 9 жыл бұрын
Jacob Rousing Hi Jacob, Thank you so much! Going by the fact that you know the word "flamingo" as a kind of insulation I'm guessing you're from Denmark ;) The stuff I used is sold by Kjøller. The German website SVB24 has something similar (they have a nicer way of sealing up the edges). Awesome to hear from someone in Denmark! That doesn't happen very often! Venligst Benny, Ursa, Horsens.
