The sumps and macerator all looked like they were factory installed after you were done, solid work!

Thank you sir! Happily, 2 outta 3 were pretty straight forward. #3 still worked out well in the end though. :-)

Great to see you working your way through the job list :) Looks like you are going to have a great little helper very soon ! I was so worried he was going to accidentally drop the Allen keys in the water ! A cold, wet Winter day here in NZ. Great to see the sunshine over your way :) Kind regards, John.

@@SailAwayVlog I may, or may not have dropped one or two tools over the side over the years ! I have just started following this dodgy musician on Facebook. Eric someone... We fly to Turkey in 5 weeks time to join our beautiful Jeanneau :) Will be posting photos on Facebook if you are interested in following Katie (12) and I on our voyage :)

Great work on those hidden details. The boat looks amazing. I have a 1989 Hunter legend 40 that I love here in the Pacific Northwest.

Definitely recommend it...very nice place. Great spot for waiting out hurricane season as well because it's the farthest west part of the east coast...very few strikes along here.

@@SailAwayVlog i went to a place that is a hurricane hole up the St Johns river. I was thinking of using that place when i was looking at a boat up there. Waiting for the next video. I may have an ac of my own to replace soon.

Other than some messing around getting the ducting attached to the blower, it was a pretty easy swap out. I think we have some pretty detailed video of it next week.

We just installed a forward ac in our Hunter 410 last week. That was quite a job. We had to run plumbing, etc, because it was a new install (boat didn’t come with one). Looking forward to your video on that.
@SailAwayVlog5 жыл бұрын
Nice! Man, I bet that was a lot of work. We had it much easier since it was a replacement...just some McGuyvering of the air ducts to get them to match up to the unit.
@SailingPauHana5 жыл бұрын
SailAway yup, delt with that too 😊. I took a lot of footage of the process, so we may make video for our channel as well.

I feel your pain! I just replaced the macerator in my boat yesterday. Not a hard job but not a fun one to be sure. My generator went toe's up last month so there goes around 6k for a new NexGen. Man that really hurt! Really enjoying your videos. S.V. Voodoo
@SailAwayVlog5 жыл бұрын
Thanks much! And ouch....that really sucks about your gen. We have some work to do on ours...wants to shut off frequently...but it's pretty low hours still so I'm hoping it'll be something simple.
@markalley48105 жыл бұрын
@@SailAwayVlog I had a NexGen 3.5. I had the same problem. It would run great for a few hours then the alternator would shut down. I contacted NexGen and they said that the problem was most likely overheating. The previous owner had built a sound proof box complete with blower to exhaust the hot air unfortunately it didn't provide enough airflow over the alternator itself. So I will bite the bullet and buy a NexGen soundproof box. Whada pain!

Damn, what a drag. Ours is right behind the engine compartment where all of these were installed and I haven't read about any issues of heat issues...hopefully that's not it for us. It's a Northern Lights 6.5 so pretty good unit.
@peterkacandes59055 жыл бұрын
Do they not have black water tank requirements down there? I thought you aren’t allowed to pump directly overboard unless you are at least three miles or more off shore. Otherwise it has to go into the black water tank which can only be emptied at a pump out facility. At least those are the rules out here on the west coast.
@SailAwayVlog5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, absolutely. The macerator is for dumping the tank when offshore or in countries that permit it closer to shore. Grey water of course can go overboard any time. Ours goes from head to tank, then a T to either macerator or deck pumpout. We had pumped everything out before leaving Fort Lauderdale so I'd be able to work on that pump; Thanks much for watching!

Thanks for the time and effort you put into your videos. Which ice maker did you order?
@SailAwayVlog5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! We bought the "Arctic Pro" off Amazon which had pretty good reviews. It's worked really well. Not near the output of that huge one, but we collect a big baggie of it in our freezer when we have extra. We haven't really been without ice since. Lots of similar ones on there that I'm sure work just fine as well

Must be nice to have a cool deep radio voice. I have a Southern Bayou tenor twangy voice. I get no respect !!! I also have a loud 18K btu cruise air under our V-berth that will wake the dead. I guess I'll keep it til it dies. They are pretty expensive. Looks like yall had fun at the Blessing of the Fleet.

I've done radio production for years. How did you get into doing the audio book thing? I'd love to add that to my gigs. Ha
@SailAwayVlog5 жыл бұрын
You've got a good background for it! I'd been singing professionally for years and already had the recording knowledge and gear, so I made a demo and sent it off to every audiobook publisher I could find. Very tough to break into....took me a year to just get one offer, then it was very slow to build up to full time. Took a lot of pestering. ;-)
