I found your excellent short film most interesting as a sailor and a film maker, as I am currently upgrading from the GH4 and trying to decide whether to buy the GH5 Mk 1 or 2. I used to sail my Joshua 40 ketch, single - handed, which could be a bit of a handful in heavy weather, but as she performed best in f5 and above was always an enjoyable experience. Now I no longer sail, but can look back on 60 years and 100k miles of sailing. Cruising and racing with friends and the challenge of sailing alone. So thank you for a most enjoyable film and clearly the GH5 is an excellent platform. Now you have both cameras, if you could only have one, which would you choose?

Hi, Thank you very much for your comment and kind words :) I am very happy to hear that you have enjoyed this little short film and that this has evoked some memories & positive emotions. Re cameras: I think if you spend a little extra money and go for the GH5mk2 then it will be very worth it. I personally LOVE the fact that in the mk2 you can auto-focus in Variable Frame Rate modes BEFORE you start shooting. In the Mk1, you would always have to set focus manually in VFR modes by rotating the focus ring... it sounds like a small complaint, but in reality it makes a big difference when it comes to not missing the slow-motion action that you want to capture. Also, the battery life is better and there are a couple of other useful new features too. But overall, the image quality and the stabilisation is the same. The OTHER option that you might want to look at is the Panasonic G9 Mk2. I've not used this camera myself (yet), but the spec sheet looks great! and it has good auto-focus. Hope this helps!!
