Congratulations on your crossing matey, you seemed well relaxed in the shipping lanes I know those ships always look further away on camera so they were quite close! Did you have any AIS? New boat looks fast. Sure you'll get her ship shape soon enough.

No AIS. Would definitely want it at night or in low vis but also wouldn’t go if that was the case. Shipping isn’t scary from me since I’m so used to the Solent so understand how they move. I’m loving this new boat but it definitely needs a bit of work. Thanks for watching!!!

@@AlexGoesSailing Yes you're right. Solent is the best training ground.

Hi, To stop water leaks from most gaps like the hatch while out at sea you can use a sealant/adesive called CT1. Come either in black clear or white. It can seal and bond even in the wet or under water. like a rubber silicone but its much heavyier duty stronger rubber, can bond wood alu and steel, and still flex. always have some on the boat. Great for caravans also.

Will definitely get some! Thanks for the advice!

Just discovered that at Homebase. Seems ok, not that easy to apply, but 1/3 the cost of marine sealant

@@markthomasson5077 I'm also using it in black to fix my dads room from leaking in the next few days.

I think direct downwind you could try goosewinging using the Genoa on the other side with a whisky pole to hold out the clew. It would more effective than just the kite on its own.
@AlexGoesSailing Жыл бұрын
I agree! Just need a pole for next time but I think a properly sized spinnaker is on the cards for sure!
@markthomasson5077 Жыл бұрын
I gave up with the spinaker on my Hirondelle, the poled out Genny was nearly as good, and so much easier. With a trimaran you probably won’t need the pole. Try setting from outrigger bow for downwind. Though I see your spinaker is quite flat, so the bowsprit may be best if you ‘tack’ down wind
@AlexGoesSailing Жыл бұрын
@@markthomasson5077 yeah a new spinnaker of the correct size will make so that a pole won’t be needed!
