I've always wanted.to see the rock of Gibraltar! I love ships and the reminds me of what it would have been like to sail a huge wooden British ship in the 17 and 1800s past this landmark. Question for you both... What careers did you do pre sailing?
@ChasingCurrents2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, we absolutely loved Gibraltar! As you said so much history there, really cool place to explore. Good question! Brynn mainly worked in the aquatics industry, he worked at the Sealife centre in Birmingham for a few years (he looked after the penguins and sharks among other things!) But decided to leave that and did a few different jobs as a cameraman and then editing videos for a skateboarding company. He has a masters degree in Marine biology (coral research) too. I (Jade) can't say I've ever really had a career, I've had over 30 different jobs and actually have had a lot of fun doing new things haha. Hope this answers your question 😊👍

How realistic is it to topple over onto your side? If this happened is it recoverable or is the boat lost?
@ChasingCurrents2 жыл бұрын
I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure it's not easy for them to topple over. I think it would most likely be if there is too much sail out, and if there are breaking waves as big or bigger than the boat. But even if it capsizes, they are built so gravity pulls the keel back into a vertical position. I think either way they will usually stay floating even when capsized because of this 👍
@volatus_sim2 жыл бұрын
@@ChasingCurrents Thank you for your reply, loving your content, can't wait for the next vid!
@Merlin31892 жыл бұрын
Look up 'stability' and 'angle of vanishing stability'. Keelboats will heel 90 degrees and still right themselves. So the wind alone should not be able to invert them. They need to be rolled by the sea past an angle (maybe 140 degrees). Then they can become stable in an inverted position, unless and until the sea rolls them back. But of course, if the wind is very strong, the sea is likely to have large waves and breaking waves. If you are on the side of a very large wave, the sea is not horizontal and your mast is not flat on the water until you are well beyond 90 degrees. And the wind may no longer be horizontal, but blowing down the face of the wave. So yachts can invert. See Tony Bullimore, Exide Challenger, 1997 , Vendee Globe.
