Drake,I have to say,from the panaramic veiws to the stories to the added text info on the mega vessels to the vast wealth of your historical knowledge....you should be getting paid from national geographic or some outfit of the like.You are also a great and patient teacher and Moe is a great student.I have enjoyed watching the two of you grow more comfortable with eachother as well.A charming couple indeed.And that sunset at the end of your anchoring job.It was just priceless.I am also VERY appreciative of the longer video as well.Given that I live vicuriously through yours and other sailers videos.I cannot wait to watch the vids from ireland and scottland.My family is from scottland.I know a few storys about my bloodline from over there.Would LOVE to see it in person someday.Anyways,thanks again and thanks for the headsup that we wont be getting anymore footage til you get where your comfortable editing more.Safe journeys and CHEERS!

Thank you for sharing. We all enjoy your videos. I'm land locked right now. I'm taking care of a wife with Leukemia, a broken hip that didn't heal so she's in a walker or wheelchair. I'm also taking care of my 84 year old Mother in-law who had heart surgery and has dementia. We have 19 and 18 yr old sons. Oh yeah I'm a Navy veteran that receives 100% disability from the VA from a brain injury that require surgery, I also have an anxiety disorder. When I sail the anxiety goes away. SO right now I live through watching your and other videos and reading stuff. Thank you for bringing all of this to us. By the way my last ship in the Navy was a guided missile cruiser called the USS Josephus Daniels CG27. My last liberty port of call was Newport. I went there and then to Arlington Mass to visit my Aunt and Uncle. SO you brought some enjoyment for me in looking at this places.

I learned something new! When you were keeping the green to starboard, I thought that's not right, but Drake wouldn't make such a mistake.... It turns out it's the opposite in the UK. Red to starboard when going to sea :)

@@marekvids11 Heh, indeed it did. I'm going through our old videos and updating a bunch of information and thought I would answer a few of the older comments as a lark. At the time we were dealing with very little wifi and often just weren't able to answer comments in a timely manner. Hmmmm, 5 years...better late than never? (✿◠‿◠) Ah, I really do think that the western coast of Scotland is such a fantastic place to sail with a slew of interesting little anchorages and protected harbours. I'm afraid we haven't explored England at all (yet!), but we are hoping the spend a winter at St. Katharine Docks Marina in a year or two depending on how this whole pandemic goes. We shall see. Take care and fair winds to you. ⚓-Monique

the best way i heard it put is the main sail is your power and the gib is your speed. in othe words the mail gives you the power to get going and crash through waves. it dose help point and balance as well.the jib is you speed top gear. but they both need to be trimmed jointly for balance... be safe on you trip and as all was far winds and calm seas...

Cha Cha is currently on stands @ New England Boatworks in Portsmouth RI. The boat was auctioned off early last year for less than $10k (I think). Someone is working on her... Don't know who. I was driving through the yard the other day and saw her. I thought to myself, Man.... this is the boat Paragon had her crazy experience with. Sounds that boat was towed more than it was sailed.

I have heard good reviews about the anchor you have! I currently have a 35 lb CQR and my boat displacement is 10, 100 lbs. I have been considering an anchor like yours, but was curious what are your thoughts on the CQR?
@drakeParagon9 жыл бұрын
Hi LifeisLikeSailing, I had a 45 lb CQR for 6 years on my Westsail 32, and then a 65 lb CQR on Paragon for the first few years and it was definitely more difficult to set than out 70lb Rocna. There were a couple of times when the CQR did drag in higher winds when the wind direction dramatically changed very quickly. The Rocna sets almost too fast regardless of anything and it has never dragged on us in any conditions. We are very happy with it.

Thanks so much for the reply and the information! That makes my decision much easier to here your experiences and thoughts on the different anchors! :)

@adammac43819 жыл бұрын
Up Anchor, just a short question, how come you do not put the engine in gear and creep up on the anchor to take the pressure load off the windlass,,,? Otherwise the windlass is dragging a heavy boat and tugging on an anchor,,,, just creeping up on it reduces the load by lots and lots of tons,,,, increasing your windlass life by years and years.
@drakeParagon9 жыл бұрын
Adam Mac Not everything gets captured on film all the time. We use the engine to motor towards the anchor all the time so that the windlass doesn't have to work so hard. There have also been times when we've had to use the 85 hp engine in full throttle to get the anchor free (like in our Season 2 episode "Stuck" and "Free at Last"
@drakeParagon9 жыл бұрын
Adam Mac Hi Adam, I think in this particular video the wind was so light and there was practically no current, and the depth wasn't that great so there wasn't really that much strain on the windlass. But thank you! Thanks to your feedback, I think the next time we film raising the anchor I'll make a point to show exactly how we motor towards the anchor to reduce the strain.

Drake-n-Moe; You managed yet another fantastic post. We all count the days until the next one. Casey Neistat kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJvLnKSVabyEjbc said it best: "Vlogging is like adopting a puppy -- They are really fun at first, and then become a tremendous responsibility". We all know if you don't feed and care for a puppy, then it will die (I sorta shed a tear for Mo's 39degree.blogspot.com dead puppy). Now that I'm an overwhelmed GoPro owner, I can only imagine that just videoing the circumnavigation of the globe must be a herculean task. It makes me wonder why you don't seek help from trusted volunteers with your even harder and time consuming task of editing and posting. I'll bet that some of your retired cruiser friends (maybe in Oriental) would jump at the chance to help you. Doing this might increase views and viewer support. Hope this helps. -- Jack, aka electricalpowerguy
