Sailing on a Hangover, Life’s Good Ep. 82

It was the last day of our event weekend and we spent it out at sea, with a hangover, a bunch of La Vagabondes sisters, friends and family.. not to mention seriously the best food we’ve ever eaten (thanks to Austin, Diana and the team at Frenchie Restaurant in Paris). We start moving some stuff onboard, but couldn’t yet officially unpack the tooth brushes. Not long now and we’ll be settled in to our new beautiful home. Every sailboat lover has the dream of doing what you are doing. With my 22 foot boat I sailed across the Northumberland Strait to a city nearby. The 30 Kilometers felt so freeing. Talking to other people who sailed I realized that the dream of sailing the south seas and beyond is something all dream about at one time or another, but most of us will never follow through. Don't wait for too long for making your dreams come true. A boat that you can own is better than the perfect boat.get practical skills, they are very needed on a boat. And get sailing experience, rental is a good way. And don't buy a couch. (Google that)

brilliant - love your journey - just a thought - your reacher is a very tidy new sail - we have similar - thought is if you leave it hoisted it'll get sunburnt pretty quickly - have you seen an ATN sock - its like a sock you hoist over the sail to keep it protected - we have them both on headsail and on screacher -(for you Code D) - pretty much any sail maker can make you one - they are so much better than a sacrificial strip - just a thought In either case - love your work - keep at it

Not sure why I am telling you this, but here ya go. I have been following you two for some time now and will as long as you continue to put videos out there. Watching your videos helps me keep hope alive. So, I am a soldier and I was doing some training the other day. My team and I had been in the field for a number of days. This one day we were riding out a sand storm, a teammate was nice enough to let me use their phone to watch this video (mine did not a strong enough signal). You know what... I'm going to make a shameless plug for Outremer for getting involved with SLV and helping them out with this fantastic new vessel. I had never heard of Beneteau before tuning in to SLV, and likewise had never heard of Outremer before this. Snowing here.. looked cold there... Can't wait till you're in full Sailing La Vagabonde again. Man I feel the pain of waiting... Been there myself.. I believe we all have at some point or another. Just moved into a new home.. and waiting to make the move had me going crazy.. the old house will never be missed.. only the memories of the 30 years there with my kids.. and watching the pine tree in the back yard go from 4 feet to over 40 feet tall.. Happy sailing.. and not having a dog.. good idea.. What if the dog got really sick and had to have medical.. They do you know.. and it would be a major burden you don't need.. Enjoy each other.. Love each other.. Bless you're unforeseen adventures on many shores and Islands of the Future.

I can't say I've ever been sailing at 8.4 knots, when the boat is so stable you can leave an unsupported glass of wine on the hard top without wondering if it will tip over or slide off. I do envy the space, the speed, and the comfort of a cat. However it's hard to beat the rock and roll (and easy moorage) of a monohull keelboat.

At 3:03 Riley was having one of those moments when you look at the thing you care about the most, stop for a moment, everything becomes calm, and you realize....I'm the luckiest person on earth. I just had one of these moments recently so I immediately caught it when Riley started staring at Elayna and my suspicions were proven when Riley said that he's never been happier. I felt like for a moment I could read Riley's thoughts. I hope you're very happy Elayna cause you got yourself a man that loves you more than anything. Aloha guys, I'm so stoked for you! I spent a summer sailing around the Hawaiian Islands once and had the time of my life. it was on a Meyote 500 Cat. it was pretty awesome. Anyway the reason I write is that we had a really tall Safty marker on the back of the cat. it was about 4 meters tall or so had a float and a light if it was ever deployed. The idea was to throw it over board if anyone ever falls overboard so you might be able to find them by the time you turn around to go back and pick them up. Long story short, I don't see anything like that on your new boat. Remember NOT FALLING overboard is the most important thing when your in the middle of no where. you can disappear so quickly in big swells out there at sea. A marker will at least give you a chance. Please always think safty. I can't emphasize that enough I think you guys are awesome and I just want to make sure that you've taken every safety precaution to make sure that nothing happens to you guys while you're out at Sea traveling around the world I'm so jealous and I'm so thankful that I have your channel to follow and I love you guys and take care you're the best I love your Channel. Great new vid folks. By the way Caipirinha is a Brazilian drink. Traditional recipe is lots of muddled lime and 2 TS of sugar over ice and of course the Cachaca (cane sugar rum). However, this wonderful drink can be modified into a Caipiroska...which is same thing but using vodka. Have been there many times in southern Brazil. I was married to a wonderful Brazilian who reminds me of Elayna in many ways. I miss her... Good luck with the new boat. ciao..

Awesome video guys... As a dog lover and owner myself I can see the appeal of having a dog join in your adventures, but I know from experience the hassle of quarantine restrictions in many parts of the world. Toby my Labrador has his own doggy passport under the Pet Travel Scheme which was a real faf to get - took months of blood tests and inoculations, but even travelling within the E.U. we need get a vets certificate and tapeworm treatment from a local vet at least 24h before returning to the U.K. I have no idea what it would be like travelling the world. I recommend you really speak with your fellow globe trotters and research this well. It would be sad if Fido was stuck on-board while you were enjoying the beach. Also I know you often fly home for periods and taking a dog home on a plane has it's own problems and expenses and you may struggle to find a carrier who will take animals on-board - not many do, and I suspect your home country Australia is as paranoid about quarantine as here in the U.K. Depending on where you have been, it may not be practical or possible to take your pet home for a short visit. I am really sorry if this is all sounds very negative but it is something that has to be considered very carefully.

You must sail to Portofino in Italy! I spent a day there when I was 14, so amazing! We paid a sweet little old man to row us out to look through his glass bottomed cone thingy to see the Jesus statue about 100ft below. Then, it was only accessible by boat, or foot, hopefully it's the same. Portofino is SO picturesque, great for your current endeavor! Our friends in Genoa, the Zumianis used to work on cruise liners and could show you around. Awesome new boat! I've been dreaming about my own catamaran for years. Love your channel! Riley, you just said that you'd never been this happy in all of your life and it shows. Prior to this video, I had just watched the party video where Elayna and you read your speeches. You stated that Elayna was the girl of your dreams. And I believe that as well. I've watched the videos leading up to and finally getting your new yacht. What struck me was how often you two were holding hands, or your hand was guiding Elayna in front of you while walking somewhere, and you two sought each other out to stand close. Watching your videos aboard didn't show me that. I really like you both and wish you all the luck, love, and happiness in all the world.

Consider visiting Le Lavandou (France). I sailed out of there as a young boy with my parents our on our Edel II. I'm sure it has changed a lot in the last 40+ years, but back then it was a wonderful little town, with an awesome port and access to some of the best beaches in France. I'm looking forward to seeing you set sail. Fair winds and following seas.
