SAILING PARLAY REVIVAL - Channel Trailer!

SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018, after Hurricane Irma. Colin and his friends spent 4 months getting her seaworthy, before setting sail across the Caribbean. They then did an extensive yard period in Rio Dulce, Guatemala, where they completely rebuilt the boat. Follow their journey as they continue to fix her as they go, and eventually circumnavigate the globe!

I’ve always wanted to travel and wanted to live somewhere warmer in tropical weather but could not decide exactly where. I stumbled upon sailing videos about a month and a half ago and idk why I never thought that wasn’t a possibility to travel the world in that manner, but I knew after I started watching them that’s what I wanted to do and not just stay in one place, but to visit ALL of the beautiful places I could ever possibly have the time to visit. Life’s too short to stay in one place and miss all of those types of opportunities! So since then, I’ve been watching nearly every sailing video I could get my hands on to that had to do with people sailing all around the world. So many of them give awesome advice, but when I came across one of your videos for the first time yesterday and watching your intro with the Mark Twain quote, that REALLY hit home for me and I nearly broke out in tears. It’s one of those things that you kinda know in the back of your mind living the rat race, but it never really sinks in until you actually hear it out in that way out loud. Add inspirational content seeing someone else doing what you want to do and how far they come just makes it all that much more like ‘BOOM! See girl?! It CAN be done! You got to get your shit together!’ Watching this one and seeing more of what it took to get you there really shows that anything IS possible even when everyone around you is saying you are absolutely crazy because it can’t be done! I admire your determination and ambition! There’s not many people out there who *actually* chase their dreams in this busy place called ‘life’. You are truly an inspiration!! Thank you for sharing your story!!💗

Hi Colin, just to say that you guys have done what you set out to do and live your dreams and even though it was tough you never give the impression of feeling the heat, you keep on pushing forward and that's the reason why i admire who you are and what you have acheived, keep it up and rest assured that your followers are not there by mistake or pure chance, they identify themselves in you, i've had a past where sailing or any nautical activity was my reason to get up every morning and now , even though i live on an island in the indian ocean i still regret the things i haven't yet done or posponed, i'm over 50 now and am still driven by passion, i'm a trail runner, swimmer, diver, fun boarder among other things and i will always respect guys like you, my ancesters were from britanny in france, that part of the world which produced the best sailors in the world like eric tabarly, poupon, olivier de kersauzon, yves cousteau and philippe Jeantot among many others, these were tough decent men that made a choice, their lives were going to be at sea with all what it gives and takes...i'm happy again that you will be posting videos soon.

I have been following SPV since the beginning and amire your skill, character and determination. Like many I felt the pain of watching you and Jamie diagnose and fix those bulkheads. What an under taking. Not to mention all the core replacements etc, etc. And Wow! we all learned how to mold and replace non-skid in your brilliant sugar scoop extension projects. I enjoyed the recent episode watching Tom build the thru hole contour blocks for the new forward looking sonar! Anyone who has ever tried to match multiple contours like that appreciates the level of skill required. Great skills and an entertainer! What a journey! So I am so happy for you that Parlay is now sailing and cant wait to see the next adventures. And congrats on the new crew. Love the new trailer - looks like your new videographer / filmmaker is raising the level already! The trailer does a great job showing all of the great crew and adventures over the past few years! Also thank you for your professional leadership in pointing out the bulkhead issue as a much wider issue. You have significantly raised the awareness to structural issues for all catamaran manufactuers and owners. Nice work!

My stepfather and mom said on a 39 foot sailboat around the work from 1986-1996 and kept the body in Miami u til 2014. They went as far as Israel, but never did make it down to the Cape of Good Hope.

While full time live aboard cruising for a couple of decades, I was the healthiest I’ve ever been. Sailing, boat maintenance, and lots of free diving and Scuba diving! Natures gym! There was mainly one source of being unhealthy while cruising……………alcohol. We eventually had to make a decision: do we want to be cruisers……or boozers? We decided to cruise without alcohol. Sooooooo much better. We have seen so many cruises ruined by alcohol. Watch it out there. Stay healthy mentally and physically and enjoy!! Here we were in paradise! Living the dream, and yet we had to chemically alter our lives???? Hmmmmmm
