Thanks Ladies. Not sure if you've seen the latest episodes, but the boat is now staying in Scotland for the winter. Having the boat so far away (a 6hr drive) is going to take some getting used to, but I'm hoping the winter sailing up there will more than compensate for that. Hope all is well on Salty Lass? ❤️⛵️👍

Hey Dave, I've noticed that you've added two additional winches at the back since you bought your boat. That's an excellent idea for solo sailing! I've done the same on my Bavaria 36, and it really makes tacking much easier without having to leave the wheel and jump in front of it. Something else that has improved my solo sailing experience is using flipper handles (foldable winch handles) on the back winches. Additionally, I switched to a smaller helm from Carbonautica, with a diameter of 70 centimeters rather than the standard heavy stainless steel 90 centimeters. This change allows me to move forward in the cockpit from behind the helm without having to jump on the benches or lockers, making solo sailing safer, especially in tougher weather. Cheers!

Hi Marc Yes the extra winches have been a game changer since I fitted them. As you say so much more convenient when sailing solo. I have seen those flipper handles but they seem to have had mixed reviews and are quite expensive. But now you've mentioned it I'll give them another look. Love the idea of a smaller helm, I'll defiantly look into that - are they a standard fit or do I need a 'Bavaria' fitting? 👍

You're in exalted company with the seasickness, Nelson was for the first day or two after a spell in port or ashore when not in the Mediterranean.

Not wanting to sound an arm chair expert, but having a hankerchief of main out witj the traveller pulled all the way to windward would likely have made the motion far nicer on the approach to the isle of man - just a suggestion! Good video as always Dave 👍

Love the episode. A great watch which amused me tremendously. You and I need to confer before we buy any kit, you got fed up with the GoPro as did I, and I’m on my 3rd Buoy catcher. The pole is fantastic but to hook connect is a waste of space, I am going to fit my own. Looking forward to the next episode. I can’t find the episode where you changed camera and if you’re happy with it. If you can share that info I’d be grateful.

Hi there, thanks for your comments, yes the GoPro Hero 12 has been ditched. I still use the Hero 11 as a second camera as that has always been very reliable. The Ace Pro has been a fab replacement. Here is a link to the video, I hope its useful... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJjcmpKuibOhldUsi=hWXEL3JScce85X4C
