We spent all of July and the beginning of August in Maine (Northeast Harbor for 4 weeks, then Buck's Harbor, Belfast, Camden, Tenant's Harbor, Snow Island, Harpswell (Dolphin Marine), South Freeport, and the Goslings) and it was amazing. I LOVE Maine!! Oh and for the lobster pots, I have told people that it is like tossing a bucket of Legos into a living room and then trying to walk across the floor. It is HARD, especially with the toggles!

I just bought the same dinghy and an E-Propulsion outboard very similar to yours. I was also amazed by the quiet and ability to go forwards or backwards with a flick of the wrist. The best part is, it just works! No more pulling ropes and wondering if the outboard is going to start. Or maybe the best part is that I can hold the engine in one hand as I board the dinghy, and someone can hand me the battery after the rest of the engine is safely mounted. Dealing with your outboard 20 lbs. at a time is the way to go.

As a young boy in summer, I was fortunate enough to be able to crew on 12, 15, 18 & 21-foot sloops located in Salem harbor, MA along with some Snipes, Stars, US 1's and think us 2;s and some others during race-week sailing from Marblehead Harbor, Ma. Everywhere that you looked there was a lobster pot. Oh, what fun. But what a simply super learning experience. I used to take my 15' Old Town center station out and drag in lots of the "tip-overs" during the racing times.

Totally enjoy your journey. Been watching for some time. But. So much effort went into buying the boat to head off into the sunset. And there were so many options out there. Production boats, like the one I own, could have taken you around the world with all the solar, generator, water maker set ups that would have had you on your way already. Do you feel you’ve not made the right decision? No matter what. And no matter what boat. We are all still fixing or tweaking the ones we own. Or currently in my case the one I captain. To replenish the boat kitty ! Keep the videos coming. You’ve come a long way. Beers and cheers !

Been there...literally. Seal Bay. That's why people cruise Maine. We have anchored within 20-30 feet of the raft up a few times. Collected ,mussels off the rocks and had a little steamed mussels with butter party. Go around the corner to Pulpit and climb the hill to the General Store and get a bumbleberry pie. Pick Blackberries and raspberries along the way. Duck when the plane lands. Don't leave Pen Bay before going to Rockland and maybe Camden to breakfast above the falls--an experience not to miss. There's so much more...

I was as just on Deer Isle last week. No boat this year. When I had the boat, pots are a mixed blessing. If you are in the pots you will likely not hit bottom. When the pots suddenly stop, the water either got a lot deeper or there are rocks you can hit. Those lobstermen know where the rocks are and generally stay clear. Some of those "rocks" will stand 15 to 20 feet off the surrounding bottom.

It looks like you left Penobscot cove at dead low tide. Don’t forget to dig or buy some soft shell clams or steamers as we New Englanders call them they are delicious with melted butter. A few things about the coastline of Maine #1 it’s hard to see the coastline in the morning because of the fog, #2 it’s rugged and very rocky, #3 it’s hard to find beaches with sand lol 👍 yesireebob

What a heartwarming episode! So nice! I actually doing a course for the sailing license in Germany and I guess German is the language with the longest words you can imagine. For the German student onboard, here are some specials: Donauschifffahrtspolizeiverordnung (what means: the police rules for ships on the River Danube) Binnenschifffahrtsstraße (means: Inner Waterway) Real tongue breaker 🤪
