I can totally relate to your frustration with the people involved with this postal issue. When service people are smug it just amplifies issues with any transaction and this sounds like you ran into an enclave where that's a badge belonging. Good to see Thursday island, some of it - I had a look at it on google Earth a while ago. The AusPost guy, he must have been something all right because never seen you so pissed with anyone - so awful that you went through that. Laziness. I have a photo of my grandfather, he was in the Aus Army, and he and some army mates are standing by a termite mound and it's massive, really tall - that was in northern Aus, Darwin I think. Hope things got better once you managed to leave Australia (well couldn't get any worse). Stay safe & Happy Sails.

Loving these videos James and Rhonda, -- QUESTION -- I have been watching you for years now and now I am getting a bit bumbled out as I realized that I must be too scared to pull the trigger and get going on my sailing dream. I must say that I envy your decisiveness and ability to get to it. Not sure why I am having such a hard time getting it done, but I now look back at what I have accomplished as I wait and work etc, and shockingly I don't think that I have managed to get ahead over the last few years. I might as well have gone sailing already. My question is this, how did you know that it was time to go and were you afraid that you were "giving up" on life or that you would "fall behind"? What was the thing that gave you that shove?... As a small business idea, if you offered turn key affordable small sailboat like yours, so that those like me could just get too it, it may be a good idea. Not sure I could do all the prep that you did - regardless of what we are told, I think it takes a guy, a real guy, to tackle all those little and big problems and get a sailboat ready to go. Just watching you convinces me that guys think differently to girls - they just do. Yes, there may be some 1 in a million girl who could keep up with you but that is very unlikely and I have never met one.
@SailorJamesАй бұрын
I decided to sail around the world on my 40th birthday, it took me 7 years before I was able to leave, I never hesitated. If I had been wealthy on my 40th birthday I would have left within a year. Anyone buying a turn key boat and thinking they can just head off and skip the work part won’t last very long at sea on in this cruising life.
@Coleen-LoveАй бұрын
@@SailorJames ...I was afraid of that answer re: turn key boat. My best friend told me that a girl will never be able to maintain a sailboat and instead of focusing on the sailboat, what I should be looking for is a "James" and simply contribute or pay for the boat. Sounds a bit defeatist but it may well be the better approach and a win win for all involved.

I have to chop them in half with an ax. To get them through the hatch way. Work on a week and a half. Then met a couple that needed more than me. They ended up doing a good job framing it out.
