Hey now my name is Darrell, and i just want to let you two know, I absolutely loved your video! I am an anchor out from Richardson Bay Sausalito. Thank you for all of your kind word's about our home here, we most definitely need for the public to know that we are not trying to live for free or even take advantage of a good thing. But in saying that what is going on here is criminal with this harbor patrol as you called them, literally stealing are boats and crushing them at the army corps of engineer's. Both of you rock👍🏻😎

Hello! Thank you for sharing your beautiful neighborhood with us. We met some very kind people, like Lance, and are so sad about how everything is being handled. No one should have their boat stolen and crushed :,( hang tight up there!!
@donhappel9566 Жыл бұрын
A few questions about the boats that were stolen. Were they currently registered? Taxes were up to date? I'm sure they had a full-time head pumping service so they weren't dumping overboard, right? Honestly, 90%+ of the "boats" (and I use that word in the loosest sense) in Richardson Bay are barely floating trash and every time a storm passes through a few more sink and have to be disposed of. I'm sure those responsible boat owners had insurance that paid for that clean up though... I won't bother getting into the crime and theft at this time. Let's face it, if these boats were remotely used as boats and not half-floating homeless camps nobody would have any problems. But the chance that any of them will ever meet basic safety or environmental laws is as slim as the chance they will ever leave the anchorage under their own power. No, they are just drug there as the last stop before they sink and left for "somebody else" to clean up. Most boaters have no problem with people anchoring out for a weekend, a week, a month... but this is a far cry from a boater anchoring out.

Those seaplanes are famous. I look for them every time I'm cruising through Marin. Did a Beaver ride out of Dawson City, Yukon on the way to Chicken, AK. Landed on a perfect mirror lake in the backcountry. Beyond words! If within your budget and time schedule, I would fly in one of these as they are one of the most famous, and cherished, models of aircraft in aviation history. Priceless!!

With the lock we put on it and with one of the anchor ours named Lance looking after her we felt very safe. Lance was sweet enough to make sure no other dinghies rubbed up against ours and always welcomed us to shore and wished us well as we headed back to Avocet.

well until they do something about homelessness what does any state expect. Its technically illegal to live in any trailer in a back yard but in my somewhat rural town in California many do! Some are just extended family with no place to go. AND the jobs here are part time but full time workers even with the the new minimum wage at $16 cant afford any place to live. And minimal at that because of price gouging! its not inflation. Rat trap apartments went from $600 or so studios to $2000 yes two thousand. Thats more than 3 times and min wage only doubled??? Milk and eggs are $8 per gallon and a dozen in my town??!! that was covid prices! Never changed! They just need to make rules. We put in water, sewer, electricity for our trailer because its over by a workshop I use for sewing across the acre lot. Its my bathroom but Ive slept in it during fires as the best sealed windows. And its overflow for family visiting. They approved up to 4 granny cottages for our area depending on lot size. Everyone is laughing. The rich homes in the hills dont want rentals in their back yards! The people in town their homes are rom 20s, 40s etc. and they dont have enough bank value to get one construction loan let alone 4???! It costs $250K to build a granny cottage! The homes are worth less than $200K? And at that price you'd never break even on monthly mortgage due either!

Don't think you can live full-time on a sailboat in the Netherlands. For tax and insurance purposes you need a fixed home address or you will be considered homeless.

@@aquious953 skid row is in LA. This is Richardson Bay. Harbor Patrol and sheriff boats made multiple rounds throughout the day, not to mention we lock our boat up and don’t leave anything laying around to steal in the first place. Thanks for your concern, but after growing up sailing the bay and spending months there aboard my own boat I had no issues.

@@sailingavocet Very cool! Didn’t know the difference between yours and the “offshore”. The PO sounded like an extraordinary man and sailor. Interesting story of Richards getting ripped off, I knew a bit about that, and it was a common thing amongst the Taiwanese boat yards back in the day. The shaft coming out of the deadwood is a great/safe configuration. Similar to our Crealock 37 (hull 15 off only 16) with our prop in an aperture behind the skeg. I’ll email you guys through your website, so I don’t take up so much room here. Check out our channel, I’m not doing much with it right now, but when we get to Mexico I’ll pick it up again.
