For real. Get that foundation up at least a foot off the ground for airflow to reduce humidity under it and separate it from the wet ground. Concrete blocks should do the trick.

And some support under the center of the floor. With your soft ground and when you put some weight in there it will sink a little especially when it rains. Cement blocks not jungle rot. I admire your energy !

Dude I am worried for them! Rain has been really crazy in PR... PR real rainy season started in MAY! Many rivers have really overflowed and in all my life I have not seen some towns underwater like this time ... Even important highways have been affected... I just hope everything is ok, when they return from Honeymoon vacation.... I was really worried when they move the camper to lower ground! Climate change is real... and it's showing everywhere...

It would probably be a good idea, since you have a hill leading right to where you're setting up, to dig a trench around the camper, pad, storage, etc. and throw down some rock and perforated drain leading to the drop-off. When the rainy season comes that looks like a good place for a lot of water to accumulate. Having a dozer push some dirt up to elevate a pad would be a good idea as well.

I like the shed I’m a shed builder but that a big Rubbermaid bowl is not rated for the winds you get so I’d think of straps to hold it downs we use hurricane cane straps in our southernmost states and we make solid wood ones. Ratchet straps to piers may help and work as well. Great job guys I have followed you from the get go of the DD and always wonder how bear is? You two are great can’t wait for the wedding and see you through the good times ahead. Stay cool stay loving stay safe

Your permanent place for the trailer needs to be cement on top of the rock after the rock is seriously packed down, preferably by some sort of steam roller. Let the wrecker come down the road to get the bobcat as is and don't pay them a dime. They owe you big time for all the repairs, parts and labor. Any court would agree with you. I was hoping you'd leave an overhang on the roof of the new chicken coop. In the rain forest everything benefits from an overhang.

Nice to see you got the proper gravel for the driveway! Top it with the stuff they brought you on the second delivery, the stuff with the fines/dust in it. That's what will lock it all together. Make sure the wettest areas have at least 8" of the big gravel, and drive on that a couple weeks, before topping it. Will probably have to add more before topping.

If you were renting the Bobcat why are you having to repair it? That is not your responsibility that is theirs. By the way the chickens prefer roosting bars so they can get on them to sleep at night otherwise they're squatting in their own feces. That would mean you would have to build a bigger home for them. When you make a roof the top needs to extend over the sides front and back so water doesn't run down into the house. I noticed on your outbuilding that you built that you were not using blocks to get it off the ground but were using strips of wood. You want to get it off the ground with concrete blocks and cut you some shims out of treated lumber that you can use to level the building. I noticed the front 4X was sagging every time you stepped on it so you need to put a block in the center as well and maybe at the back. I guess you were using a couple of different ones that you pieced together which you have to support with blocking like you do the ends.

Oy, where to start. The video makes it clear it is a big mistake to leave out cross-supports under the plywood at 16". Also, lack of support under the entire structure, there should be legs down to earth at least every 16". Lastly. if the wind blows there (hint) some sort of tie-down to the ground is necessary. All is not lost though. Love seeing the progress.

Umm, This episode reminds me of my Brother-in-Law who can take 5 thousand dollars worth of lumber then build a 2 hundred dollar shed. Knocking down a block building that could have been concrete reinforced by simply filling the blocks from the top then putting a proper roof on thus creating a Hurricane/Shelter that is not in the River Valley or Mud Slide danger zone, then erecting a plastic shed in the mosquito infested, breezeless bottom lands is Crazy. Good luck during Hurricane season.

Is your trailer at risk of flooding in its new location, “down there”. Flooding is a serious risk in PR. Don’t ask me how I know. Sometimes you can go 5+ years before a deluge visits your property. Ask all your neighbors about your property’s flooding history. You are making big investments now. You need a solid foundation.
