Hey Matt, look into "biochar" and "hügelkultur" if you're doing raised beds for the garden/greenhouse. Also consider some electric fencing woven into that bamboo, iguanas love to climb, but no animal likes getting a little zap, protect those veggies.

I noticed your previously planted heirloom pumpkins. Those are more appropriate for the mainland. The heirloom pumpkins are susceptible to disease and rot in tropical climates. You may want to try the West Indies pumpkin also known as Calabaza locally. My dad grew those in our backyard in PR and they were delicious for not only pie but also for savory dishes like PR style pink beans (habichuelas rosadas). To get the seeds buy a calabaza from a local farmer, pull the seeds and air dry them.

Thank you guys for taking such good care of the animals. We have rescued 17 cats over the years and one of our cats had a fetish for only pink or lime green colored toys. We would bury those toys in a pile of toys and she would always dig them out and carry them around... so yes, I think they can see colors in certain shades. Hoping your greenhouse survives even the weakest of storms. Greetings from Guam!

Those fish looked like bluegills mostly (sunfish). If you're good at filleting, you can get really nice little fish chips. Fried in some oil with salt & pepper - FANTASTIC! Probably not how you ate when trying to make weight. Yes, figure out your spinning reel and then teach your nephew what's what - think of what ridicule he can avoid through life. :)

For the greenhouse you can use a roll of heavy mil plastic. Use 2" wide strips of bamboo to wrap around the ends of the plastic, then use a staple gun to attach it to the frame of the greenhouse. That's how we did it in Horticulture class at school when our funds were low. ❤😊☀️🐈⬛🐈⬛🐾🐾🦎🍉🍍🍅🌶️🥒🥕🥦🌽🥬🫑🍆🫛🧄 Oh, and do some research on installing a vent/fan in your greenhouse 😊❤ Amazon has really nice plastic sheeting

I hope the bamboo works. You've used bamboo when you first moved onto property chicken coops, Goat enclosures and sure it worked for a while, but not a long while so maintenance will definitely be an issue and on going. With all the other projects you've going on this absolutely gorgeous piece of paradise I'm concerned you'll under estimate the workload that's going to be involved with the upkeep. Matt you're good and do your upkeep of the homestead magnificently, Don't burn yourself out. Enjoy both of you and your craziness cheers

Matt, I watched a guy on KZbin build a long fence project with metal post, driven into the ground with a really neat hand operated machine that drove the post in the ground fairly fast. Then he attached some wood boards top & bottom and applied metal sheets/panels. It was freaking great! 🤗 Cost wise I think cheaper than all wooden fence.👍

Creating a protected garden space is wise and beneficial. I could write a book about it but the topic is so expansive and somewhat area specific that the best thing to do is collaborate with a local resident who has a reputation as knowledgeable and successful. Seek out that person and ask them to assist you with soil preparation and balance of nutrients. Also ask for advice about keeping the wildlife out.
