Have now watched all of your videos back to the OG Kittiwake days, I'm sort of relieved you upgraded to Skua before you crossed the ocean. Betting you both are as well? My permanent desktop is an elevated picture looking down over Clifton. Really worth the climb up to the fort and then over the hill to walk the north side where there are great beaches.

Took a Windjammer Cruise in ‘97. Stopped an anchored off shore. Palm Island wasn’t very much to see. It’s a private island.Very small. Was least favorite stop. Found the French islands to be the cleanest.Dont forget to get some “Jack Iron “ rum. (Bootleg rum). Pretty good high test rum.

Beautiful. In some ways you've benefited from being in the Grenadines during hurricane season & pandemic because you've had the place more or less to yourselves. Bays like Salt Whistle are sometimes impossible to get into during the high season, with too many yachts around. I've always felt that the summer is a good time to explore (as long as you keep a weather eye on any possible storms) - the gentle breezes are a relief from the full trade winds of the winter months (when seas build up & the passages between islands become a bit of a romp!)

@@SailingKittiwake Thanks for the reply. How open is everything now? Some places seem busier than others. We're looking (virtually) at some boats out that way. Take care and have fun 🌅

It all changes weekly. They opened back in October after 7 months of closed borders but are already going backwards.

@@marclawyer2789 to be honest, we have not. If I were you, I'd stay in Europe until things are settled (do any boat work there because here ordering parts is either impossible or crazy expensive). Just my personal pov.

Just trying to imagine what it must be like to take the journey you guys made, and then have all the destinations locked down. At least there are no crowds, and you get to stay on great spots, but it was desolate on some of those islands.
@SailingKittiwake4 жыл бұрын
It was great at the beginning, now it's less so. Not because of the lack of people but because they close countries down for way longer here. Grenada had borders closed March-October. It's not cruising.

I think your video work has improved a lot since you first started. Cheers. Hope you can get to a point where your videos are a little closer to "real time " . Keep up the good work.
@SailingKittiwake4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. We cannot get close to real time or we would never release anything. 4 months behind, like here, is as close as we will ever get (only because we have no choice). Like we said many times, this is just what we do in our spare time and it takes a huge amount of time and effort to put it together. We are still in the rainy hurricane season in real time, so I see no problem.

You should organise a cruisers rally and all descend on their beach at once.

Definitely the words of a non traveler. You are in a foreign country where rules are different and responses could be different. These guards are doing their jobs and some tourists don't respect limitations put upon them and think nothing of going exploring farther in.
@cousinjack28414 жыл бұрын
@@slowpoke1 It was a light hearted comment you fool. I am quite well traveLLed thank you, and I also have dual nationality and spend quite a bit of time flitting merrily between two continents. Yes, the guards are just doing their job, but I don't remember anyone saying they weren't....

Everything has been closed since March here. I doubt they'll open much for the season. The only way they can - by upping prices for the cruisers and making Covid testing very expensive. Thanks. Go to any Made In China cheap shop and there you'll find one. Haha. Cheers.

Question.... why did you Anchor next to "happy island"...when you narrated that the area was basically empty and there lots of empty mooring balls seemingly available for ya to utilize.??
@SailingKittiwake3 жыл бұрын
We were simply following the guide books' tips. They were local moorings, not commercial ones. And had they been commercial ones, we didn't want to pay for one, as we knew we'd be on our way within an hour.

I really haven't seen anybody here that has looked at the Islander's point of view. Think about being on a little island with unknown people sailing to your front door. And you don't know which has Cov. Certainly some do! If it was me I would not let ANY body in.
@SailingKittiwake4 жыл бұрын
That's inaccurate. To sail to and around this country (like any) you need to be Covid negative. This was just a case of guards keeping strangers away from a luxury resort. That's what they do, Covid or not Covid. PS SVG had 0 active Covid cases when we were there.

You don’t have to sail the Caribbean to see the beauties of the sea and oceans. It is enough to sail into the Adriatic Sea along the beautiful Croatian coast, full of miraculously beautiful and exotic islands
