Hi all, I was in the US Navy air wing. Nuts and bolts on jets are subject to A LOT of vibration. We would wire tie them in place. The 'wire nuts' or bolts have a hole drilled through one "corner" of the head (which can be done with a drill if you can't find them predrilled). A wire is run through the hole in the torqued down nut or bolt and attached to others in series or to a tiedown spot, if it is singular. There is a special rotating clamp plier tool to twist the wire to cinch the connection but it can be done by hand. It's hard to explain the nuances of the various configurations to apply the wire holdfast using text comments. There are videos online showing how it is done. This eliminates dependence on "nylon" nuts which can still loosen up or "lock tight' which makes them hard to remove. I've been a fan of the channel for years. Hope this comment may help someone out there. Cheers all, Thomas

You guys got this, it might seem all complicated and everything from your perspective, but the two of you are so powerful that it's just gunna happen yo. You will be at the end of this journey looking back at this moment thinking WOW we really did that, we brought two kids through that... we inspired 1.85 million people through that, (and here's the three million yet to come) it's gunna to be like, "are you serious did we really?" You will look back and think, YES we did. You will look back to this moment and think we have touched the lives of Millions... and made our lives better doing so... and when you finally cross your own path, when the two of you have have journeyed all the way back around to where this all began... I hope and pray that it is all the more magical the second time around =];) thank you... thank you for inspiring me to do the same ^.^ you all have a wonderful day.

Aussie chill is a myth. Go to Oz. Explore. And pretty soon...you'll see...these are some of the most uptight people on earth. "No worries" is not the reality of Australia. Overly conformist, overly controlling people, moralizing, meth epidemics, domestic violence, gangs, and a "mateship" system that keeps everybody enmeshed with one another is the embodiment of Australia.

Truly, you could compare Riley, Elayna and their different crews as like being like "astronauts of the sea," in my opinion. The knowledge they have to have, always having to be completely aware at all times of what's happening with your boat (the repairs), the long hours and so much more. Plus they fish for their own sustenance, take care of two amazing babies and also, as well, teach people about our world. Wow!

I just stopped at slightly under a minute in and had to say, "OMG!". To think that you wasted a single second of a thought of a possible nay sayer breaks my heart. Anyone who has ever had small children, in that age bracket - particularly a pair of boys- knows just how high octane their energy can be. They are exploding 🐒 🙈 having continual, rambunctious fun and arguments, and you are doing it all on what amounts to be a postage sized platform out in the middle of the ocean!!!🌊 Abandon ship! Save yourselves!!😮😂 LOL. We all get it! Getting those boys on land where they can run off some steam for several days is just what is needed. And Riley, when you do reconnect with the family, be sure to send your princess out for a few hidden retreat days with some friends. Here's to BALANCE for all of you. What a life well lived! You guys are LEGENDS!! ❤❤❤❤🎉

I enjoyed this episode very much. This is, of course, the way everyone had to sail before motorized power was a thing. I think of my grandfather, sailing coastal schooners in maritime Canada, hauling whatever cargo that needed moving without any reliable engine backup. Brave for sure but also very skilled. Also, we that regularly sail small sailboats do this all the time, but that is a different ball game. Dinghies.

17:44. "we've managed to fix the problem". Problem solving in high stress situations is a skill that is priceless. Education can only get you so far. Being able to execute a thought out plan, in a skinny minute, is extremely rare in most people. It's no surprise Riley has been a successful sailor.

Smart move flying with the boys….even smarter given the circumstances. Can you imagine trying to get into port while the boys were on board. Anyway I am so excited to see what is coming up. It must have taken a lot of work getting this all set up. There are not many times I wish I were younger but this is one of them. I love sailing but as I live a long way from the coast and I am a grandma, I have to live vicariously through you. Thank you for letting me enjoy the ocean that you travel.

You make the decisions for your family because you know what is best especially when dealing with two small kids. And look! With the boat breaking and dealing a very stressful situation dodging tankers you were right! Riley… I really am not being negative here but the word you are using “orienTAted” is really “oriented.” I think you are extremely smart and know lots of stuff about a lot of things. I just think you would want to know how to say it correctly. Safe travels 🌴

This was such a food video. Filey, it gors to show how much experience you have to be able to sail to shore amongst all those big ships safely and then fix the motor on your own. Kuddos to you.

Awesome episode! Riley and Forest you two showed tons of courage and skill to get into that mooring. Forest's review was spot on, waiting would have just caused more problems that you might not have realized until it was to late.

We’ve raised our now 17 year old aboard sailing. Either Dylan, our son, went to family or Dylan and I met boat at end of boat delivery by hubby and crew. Yes, we know how it is with littles under feet while under way. Do you, and everyone else can do what they want. Stay true to you, only way to keep your soul happy! Cheers!

So much enjoyed watched the technical part of getting the boat in without an engine. Mostly I watch for the family fun but I really found that fascinating.

Riley saying the kids could get down there and get the bolts, all while he has black greasy hands, totally reminded me of that movie Snowpiercer, with Chris Evans.

The extra level of adventure in sailing an older boat is just off the chain! I kinda love seeing this donde of Riley and Forrest, making do and troubleshooting. No one can convince me they aren’t both loving it!

Old Trick, hammer the end of the bolt thread to damage it so that the nut don’t fall off. It’s always available and a good quick fix. Trevor

I am always greatful for your videos, all of you, and how well matched your guests and occasional crew you vet!! Your recent episode had me on what can go wrong out in the blue! And you navigation skills are top shelf both of you! I've trucked all over North America and mostly Canada. You HAVE to fix what fails trouble shoot, improvise , forward think and be calm. At minus 40c and no one to hear your May day call you've got at best 90 minutes before your engine won't start at those temps. Very proud of you both. And a mate that has your back and a lady that loves you. You may not have it all together but together you have it All.

Elayna, Riley. We love you guys. Now don't you DARE feel guilty for putting ur families needs first (i.e. flying, etc). I LOVE watching the two of you - your journies; both individually, As a cpl, Nd as a family. You guys rock. Nd you do you. We love you iregarless. Well I!! Certainly do. Nd I know there will b many others like me who feel the same. Thank u for showing us what a beautiful, raw family, looks like. It's the example I think we all needed. With so much love, Natasha (and family).
