Wow, loved it! The best! As a US Sailing instructor, teaching mostly around and out the Golden Gate. The N pacific can be quite similar to this. We do our best to avoid conditions like This but it happens. I sit and watch this and you two are TEXT BOOK right on! Love your communications and team work. This is where the magic happens. This video should be required viewing for some of our more challenging classes. Your procedures and executions are so right on! And on top of all this your videoing all of it!! I just have one thing that kept bugging me. The open companionway. I kept saying “close it close it”. Ha ha. Obviously no roguish or freakish waves made you regret it. But if you were going to find one (even a smallish one), this might be a good place! Yes, guilty, had a number of gallons come in. And wiped out some of the nav station. Again, thanks for this wonderful version of this passage. I’ll keep watching with a grin on my face!

Hi there! I am Dorian (S.V. Arcanum). My wife and I started following your exploits when you made it to French Polynesia. In reviewing your 'rounding the Horn' episode, out "hats are off to yas' on this epic adventure. You two pulled off something no other couples or 'pop' cruising KZbin channel family/group has attempted; to my knowledge? Not gonna get you into Guiness' records, but you it will certainly be one of those struggles, and accomplishments you will never forget! Wow. Just watched your arrival in Pago Pago. Another feat. Fair Winds and safety to you both, from a slightly older couple (65, 69) who may not have the remaining muscle for something like repeating Slocum's journey, but we are looking to head straight SSW from the Oregon Coast for some fresh coconuts. Peace! (Cathy and) Dorian

This is absolutely amazing, even more amazing this second time. This is indeed what sailing is. (I love music but I don't 'hear' music in my head when I experience or remember sailing.) I've been under sail far from land, but our max winds were about 35 knots, and not Cape Horn. (If Google was run by smart people they'd send you $100k for recording an absolutely incredible experience made by people who actually know what they are doing. Then they'd tell the world about it.) Let's see if I can kick in.

@jpdj27154 ай бұрын
You're in North-North Atlantic territory there. Cape Horn is 56 South and in the Northern Hemisphere 56 gets you to Edinburgh latitude. London-Amsterdam-Berlin already at 52N. The Atlantic can be wild and its North Sea branch may get to even wilder sea states incidentally. That makes rounding Cape Horn no less of a mean feat. Great watching material.
