This video is priceless. Anyone who sees it for the first time needs to watch their latest video's and compare the editing and narration to this one and see just how far the quality has come. Amazing.

It looks like you didn't get a survey. Your boat certainly wasn't in show room condition without a detached mast and with all that stuff piled up everywhere inside. You must have gotten a pretty good deal because of all that. I'm thinking of getting a mono hull to sail across the Pacific to the Philippians so that I have a place to live why my Cyber 48 is being built. I'm not sure what type of boat would be best for me but it certainly needs to be cheep so that I don't loose money when I sell it about three years latter. Like you two, I grew up racing small boats and then got into racing catamarans but have never used electronic navigation equipment before. I'm thinking that sailing across the Pacific will teach me all of that and give me the motivation to get my boat built faster so that I can continue to cruise. What an awesome lifestyle!

I just discovered you guys and am watching from Episode #1. Questions: Did you not have at least a survey of the boat before buying it and, if so, how did you establish if the engine functioned properly? Also, what boatyard were you in that let you do your own work? Thank you for your responses.
@SailingSweetRuca3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron. Great questions. We did not do buyers survey, as Curtis is experienced regarding the industry and boats/rigging/engines, etc. We were satisfied with the information we had and knew the risks. Although this was helpful for us to close on a deal quickly, we would not recommend someone inexperienced do that. We don’t care to comment on specific boatyard policies as that is really up to each boatyard and things can change. We’d suggest calling on them individually and reviewing the yards contract and discussing questions with them. We were at Jamestown Boatyard. We would have never known it existed as it’s pretty far off the beaten path, but it is now a special place in our hearts. The team a JBY was great, we loved the guys there. They were honest, knew their stuff, and treated us well when we were there.
@roncanizares99663 жыл бұрын
I still think it is very unusual that on buy a boat that must have been $200K+ without a survey, but as the saying goes, from the play with the same name, "All's well that ends well". As the the Jamestown Boat Yard, it is famous in the Northeast.
@SailingSweetRuca3 жыл бұрын
We don’t blame you for thinking it’s unusual, it is. Unusual is nothing new to us. Wait until you watch some of the other episodes and find out where we plan on sailing, you will really think we are crazy 😜
