Ep 59. In this episode Wave Rover is only 100Nm off the coast of Canada but with no wind she can't make any way. I encounter 2 whales, a cow and calf, just as the breeze begins to fill in. The shearwaters behave in a strange manner as they prefer to run after Wave Rover than fly. If you are wondering what I've been up to when not sailing Wave Rover check out my other channel: Rover's Rest / @roversrest
Wave Rover continues to progress North on her epic nonstop passage from Martinique to Prince Edward Island on the East Coast of Canada.

This is the second last Episode of Sailing Wave Rover. The last Episode will be released 11 Dec. If there is enough interest I will do a Q&A video on 17 Dec. Let me know if you are interested in the comments below and leave a question or theme you would like me to address in that video. As always, this is Wave Rover wishing you fair winds.

Not sure if you have ever discussed this, but what’s it like when you step onto land after 30 days at sea? Do you struggle to walk or balance yourself ? How does your body react and is there a period of recovery?

Hi Alan, I guess when we met earlier this summer you answered my questions. It was great sharing a couple cold ones and talking about sailing and our service in the Canadian Military. I would be interested in any more advice you could provide about crossing oceans as you have crossed both the Pacific and Atlantic. I also have to give a plug for your new channel "Rovers Rest". Building your dream homestead. Best of luck to you and Mrs. Rover on the new adventure. Maybe someday we will be able to sit down and have another couple cold ones and talk about life. Cheers.

Wow, the water really looked like glass. There's a saying "The sun's mirror has a salty taste that sweetens the soul". Always enjoy your episodes! Sad that I'm nearing the end now after binge watching each episode from the start.

Great video. So close to home yet so far. Mother Nature will make you wait until she sees fit to give you more wind to make the final leg home. The birds loo like they are running on the water. Seeing the fins of the whales coming towards you can be such a rush.

I'd reccomend you buy a hydrophone. For less than $100/$120 you can get a hydrophone, "zoom" digital recorder and a pair of headphones and you can get INCREDIBLE audio of the whales voices when they're around Wave Rover! Fair winds!

Hello Wave Rover! A question I've been meaning to ask: a while back, you mentioned situations where Wave Rover was over-powered or not in control, thus the need to reef or heave-to. What are your criteria for such a situation? Rails consistently under? Or other factors? Just curious what it looks like and your decision-making process in such situations. As always, thanks so much for sharing your adventure!
