I really enjoyed seeing this video. It looks like at this point, your keel is now attached to the boat, and you can start work in other areas. I also see that MP is starting to work with the boat's engine. I know from watching more recent videos that she is going to be a first class engine technician/mechanic, the sort of person who can fix and maintain an engine and do these jobs very well. I also see how Ben helps the shipwrights in any way that is required, all over the boat. What a great effort you both put in! You are both sort of in training to be shipwrights.

This is a perfect case in point about having to be flexible when doing wooden boat restoration, there are always several ways to do things . Its called wicking the bolts which is the proper way to do it . After seeing the Horn timber and the rest of the framing in the boat I am not surprised at all about the transom, I have done this before you just have to take it one step at a time , and do what you have to to float the boat. I am sure you are thrilled to see the keel go in , I wish you the best . Wait till you get into sheer strake and covering boards , there is going to be a great deal of work there, but at least it can be done in the water , take care and soldier on .

@@mitzanodeparetzack2198 they likely paid the asking price for it, which apparently was $55k US, plus they are having to pay to have it disassembled, the pieces made, and it reassembled. That’s a much more involved process than just buying a newer boat in good shape or even to just have one like it built. And to top it off, even if they get it back to perfect condition it will never be a blue water boat. It’s not designed to cross oceans. It’s just a coastal pleasure craft and no more.

I lived in Brazil for a while and remodeled part of the house and had it paneled. The paneling came in large pieces to attach to the walls, but as the walls were plaster, they weren't totally flat nor square. The paneling company sent out a carpenter to adjust the paneling by hand and make sure it was properly installed--no extra cost. Lots of beautiful wood in Brazil (imbuye, Pao Brasil, etc.) and still many great craftsmen.

@@captaintoyota3171 I don’t think they do know what they’re doing or what they’ve gotten into. It’s pretty clear they’re clueless on both fronts. They seem to know nothing about boats, not even basic terminology of boat anatomy, like stern and bow. And they certainly have no idea about what’s to come next about repairs. They’re just hanging on, along for the ride as the craftsmen tell them what’s to be done. It was clear from the beginning they just bought the boat because it tickled their fancy and had zero idea what all it needed done to it. They even said they hadn’t a clue of what it needed. They still don’t. And money? I hope they have bags of it because they’re not anywhere near making it seaworthy, let alone livable. The theme of every time they remove one board they find ten more rotten is going to continue as they move higher into the boat and into the living quarters. They’re basically having to rebuild the boat. No, I don’t think they had a clue what they were getting into and I am not sure they have fully realized it yet. I think their naïveté and ignorance of the field had them a little blinded still.

Esses rapazes realmente trabalham duro e sabem como reabilitar um barco que estava precisando muito de uma reforma.

Hi guys! Sometimes, when you accept a monumental challenge like this, it´s almost unavoidable to have some "down-days" like today. It´s normal; so don´t give up! Better and more joyfull things are coming soon. My compliments to all of those hard working craftsmen; their skills, and most of all their patiens is overwhelming! Great milestone! BTW, happy V-Day to both of you. Cheers from NE patagonia, Argentina. P.S: It´s amazing how fast your channel is growing!

Hi, are you going to put any bedding compound in, so far they have used none on any of the joints, your wood guys should know this, this is a must you have to tall them, I'm really concerned for the integrity of the frame to keel joints, best wishes.
