My wife and I watch your channel for the sailing. However, Montana is a special place for us. We have been every year for the past five years and we have seriously considered getting a place there. We have bare boat chartered in the Bahamas and US and BVI several times as well. In a way you are living our dream but for now we are living another dream in Hawaii. We were so in tune with Keith's comments that he still has adventures left and is not ready for the rocking chair. He is lucky to have a partner who is willing to go along. We are lucky that Renee loves to share her videos with us. HAPPY TRAILS.

Keith is right. Keep moving, keep being engaged. Might I suggest another trip through the Panama Canal then head north and do summer in Alaska. I think you would love the picturesque sights of the Rockies and the glacier waters.
@kurtschreihart742410 ай бұрын
Their boat would not handle the Alaskin waters well, it is just not designed for that or the Great Lakes. The waves are way different in these places. Their boat is designed for the tropics or sub tropics. Of course they could but too risky. These cats do not work well on The Great lakes either because the waves are too close together. I seen it tried and it is scary even in the calmer summer months. Especially Lake Michigan. The Lake Express Ferry which is a huge car ferry cat can only transverse Lake Michigan in the summer months and does not go in bad weather. Cats are made for warm climates and the ocean.

I was going to say you folks are filthy rich with 1500 acres and a beautiful wood cabin in Montana with all the added toys. Add to that sailing the world in a catamaran, yet there you are deep cleaning your own cabin when you can likely afford to have someone come in and prep it all before you arrive. Hat tip for the character! Your kids are fortunate they have you as parents.

Oh guys I know the chances of you reading this comments are slim, but I just need to tell you how much my husband and I love your channel. We are watching your videos for years now, and we love to put them on the tv every weekend when we have our blessed family breakfast. We have 3 little children, and we always felt so connected to you. You seem like amazing parents and that just shows on how wonderful your kids turned out 🫶🏻 When you were showing the pictures of the kids in the cabin, and Keith started talking about how it feels like to be without them, we actually both started crying because we can see ourselves in 20 years. You have all our respect, and it feels so nice to watch a wonderful family with the same values and looks on life as ourselves. Finding out that you actually have a property like that was so crazy, because it’s exactly what we are planning to build soon, to be able to live the old school life and grow our own food and just to live life even with everything crazy that is going down in the world now and in future, because we are also „paranoid“ as Keith said so well 😏 Thank you so much for all the love and effort you put into your videos, we really appreciate them. So it became my go to show weekly. These past months I’ve been watching the slow down of their life on the boat & as everyone is shifting gears making new plans. I’m not sure if there is an easy way to become empty nesters, I do feel for the parents. I’m looking forward to watching the families new adventure, I’m glad the kids & their friends also started channels. What a beautiful life Keith & Rene have provided for all the kids.

But it doesn't completely take away the feeling of sadness when i think about my daughter moving out and starting her own life. The journey has been wonderful, as we are hobby farming, getting up each day rain, shine or icy starts to look after animals, and start each day’s projects. We are thoroughly loving it. Mind you weren’t travelling the world by boat prior, I definitely understand the allure. You have shown us over the years you have many facets to your life, there will be many more adventures coming your way, enjoy the moment the journey will look after itself. BTW Montana does look lovely with all the snow around. We, I suppose are prepping in a way also, lots of funny stuff happening around the world at the moment, who knows what’s coming!

I’m so relieved, I said this way back when you were bopping around Saudi Arabia and the east before going up the Suez Canal to the med, “get your butts home and get that cabin stocked, the world is falling apart” !!! I was just envious over your land and cabin 24:34 but now you show the greenhouse, now I’m down right jealous !!! You have done so well for yourselves, going from living in a trailer house to literally having it ALL !!!! My advice to your kids, start building a home on mom and dads land, even if you don’t live there now, get a home and supplies so you have a refuge, things are about to get rough, really rough ! Renee, get an heirloom seed vault, soilless growing medium and soil blockers and/or seed cups and trays. This summer get a garden plot prepped with manure, compost and cover crop so it is nutrient dense when you need to grow food. If you don’t have canning supplies, a dehydrator and even a freeze dryer (which most of us can’t afford) get them too, you will need to store all that food you grow if you need to feed all your kids and grand babies ❤ Alternative power could be a fun project for Keith and he can teach us (although I’ve watched many videos and it’s over my head) !!! As much as I LOVE the sailing, adventures and the ocean, I would also love to see you all do the prepping thing !!! If you have a prepped home where you have survival means for yourselves and your kids, then you can go play with peace of mind, just have a plan for everyone to get home ! I don’t have a husband to help me so it’s a challenge but I’m planning for a Great Depression or war or both :( I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it….. preparing can save a lot of suffering!! We didn’t have much snow here in northern Minnesota either, it was nice but it’s going to be really dry and I live on the edge of a pine forest 🙁 Safe travels as y’all go back and forth !!!

Prepping show would likely be great. Wife and I are a couple years ahead of you (54&57) regarding transition. Our 3 kids are now in college. I always wanted to go boating but my wife is not sure. So we bought a property by the water on the east coast and my hope is to be able to show her she will also enjoy trips on the boat. Transition can be uncertain, people from our generation do not talk about it enough. I am not even sure we think about it enough. I think it is important and there are many ways to screw it up. I would think the more you share your thoughts on this, the more it might help or inspire your audience. It is never too early to think about all these big moments in life. Love you and thank you for sharing part of your life with us.

Have followed your family for the past 3 yrs. My wife retired 3 years ago and I am semi-retired in our 50s. We have had many friends become "empty nesters" and it is a hurdle for sure. Some have gone through depression issues, some couples have become fighters, some say nothing. Their kids are starting their lives and after the first year or two, see their parents less and less as their lives develop. It is not a simple transition! Keep traveling and now developing the new way of life for Renee & Keith. As retire folks in our 50s, we too are trying to figure out our new schedules in life. Keep posting and all of us will go through it with both of you! Much love and godspeed!

Empty nesting - my folks, now 80 and 73, are in a 5 bedroom house that they bought back in '96, just a few years before Dad retired from the Army. My brother had already moved away, and I was there for just a year before I headed off myself, but it has been 'home' now for fast approaching 30 years, which in stark contrast to us having moved many many times, in lots of different countries for many decades, so almost the complete opposite of what you guys have done. I grew up in places like Malawi, Germany, and Hong Kong, and can remember 8 homes that we lived in, in 3 different countries, visiting many more during that time on trips and holidays. We get together now a few times a year, and try to make the most of those times and it's understandable given their age that we don't know how many more years we will get. So important to make good memories whilst you have the chance. I can totally understand Keith's emotions of the kids not being there and starting to spread their wings. I remember when Anna headed off for college, and how difficult that was for you both. Difficult to put myself in their shoes, but given the adventures, and with the benefit of my life experience and wisdom, and now being 51 myself, I'd be on that boat for as long as humanly possible, spending as much time as I could with family, but it takes a lifetime to come to that realisation...

If you miss teaching your kids or showing them things, I'm up for seeing what it's like to be around amazing people like you and and Renee and you can teach me how to sail and I'll go snowmobiling around with you. 😂 I missed out on alot growing up so I'm still a kid at heart. 😊 Lol

Beautiful place ya'll have there, our kids have left my wife and I and it is hard, the grand children is what keeps us so happy. I would get bored to death at the cabin. I have 3 places and I get bored at each of them after a short period of time. I keep hopping from one to the other, always working on something.

Wow what a change of scenery . While I live on the coast and have access to beaches that you have visited in Australia that offer , fishing , diving etc , I don't have access to that . Keith the Prepper , since he does everything else so well I will look forward to seeing that .😉

Just returned from a trip to the Southwest to our log cabin in the Oregon Cascades. twenty four inches of fresh snow fell while we were gone. Not to clear the driveways and parking. Living in a remote location is not for many. It is a high energy life style.

I live not far from there. It has been cold but not much snow this year. It has been crazy.

Wow!!! I just love your family-been following for years. Thank you for showing us your BEAUTIFUL cabin in MT it’s awesome. I’m from NJ and have never seen mountains, so majestic! The scenery is incredible. Big transition from being with the kids 24/7 to just the 2 of you. But enjoy each other and this is your time!! Can’t wait to see more! God bless your entire family 🇺🇸

I have a summer home in Aspen Colorado. Me and my parents always spent the summers there for many years and now they are gone now it is really not the same with out them. They both were over 100 years old when they passed away and they had a wonderful life.

Been watching you guys since the beginning. Love what you do. My wife and I are about your age and have five sons and we've spent 40 years have an adventures 6 months out of the year. Much like you guys. Also Texans :-) hey I have a suggestion for you you probably thought about it a million times but didn't want to deal with other people staying in your place. But we use Airbnb and hip camp to rent our places out so that they stay well maintained and ready for us to just come right in and sit down and enjoy ourselves. We've got a cabin in the woods near Austin. The cabin on a private island that you can only access by boat or plane near Port O'Connor we've got a 42 ft houseboat down in Ingleside and a 30-ft cabin cruiser up on the lake and a full live in treehouse near Lockhart. And so all of that takes so much work and we hate to do all that work ourselves about 2 years ago I started letting friends that I know really well and some relatives that I vetted run the airbnb's and hip camp ads for these places. We let them keep basically all of the money that is profit. After we have paid for the utilities the taxes the maintenance and any improvements needed. And they keep the places in top notch shape ready for guest at any moment. And we just don't worry about it. At first we worried that people were going to mess with their stuff and break things but that is maybe 2% of what happens. Everybody really respects our stuff it's amazing when we show up the place is clean and fresh and there's food in the kitchen and the AC is on and we just walk right in like we are our own guests. I keep cheap little solar battery maintainers on the dash of my vehicles everywhere so that they keep the battery up. And I make sure before I leave to put in some fuel stabilizer and run it through the system. Hey I'm an ENTP as well and we're not ready to stop either. I could tell you though we had our kids earlier our oldest is 36 our youngest just turned 21. And the only advice I can give you is don't get a puppy to fill the empty nest. That's a 15 or 20 year commitment that'll slow you down everywhere. No matter how tempting it is don't get a puppy :-) Anyway I recommend it Keith. Love you guys keep up the adventure😊

Our cabin here in PA gets those huge flies too. So annoying!! It’s only in some of the windows too.

You have a beautiful place in Montana. You did a marvelous job cleaning it up and scrubbing out the hot tub. I bet the two of you had some great times together, Yes, prepping tips or plans could be beneficial to watch. Safe travels on land or sea!

Hot Tub Fix. You can either make a cover/roof under those deck boards above it and have it sloped enough to drain the water/snow away from the Hot Tub? Which I think will be the quickest to build. Or you could take 2-2x6 or 2x8s and run anchor type bolt on one board each side so you could lower the new structure up and down when you use the hot tub. Attach the 2 boards onto those Deck boards against or by the Cabin. Run 3/4 ply wood across those 2 boards. Than when it is lowered down it will be on the ground past the hot tub at a 90 degree angle so all snow and water will head out past the hot tub. If it’s to heavy to lift attach a wench to bring it up and down. Lol. My 2 cents

I will definitely watch prepping videos, I love your cabin. I was a empty nester, now I have a daughter and 4 grandkids living with me. The older I get the more I miss the peace and quite. But I do enjoy my 3 grandsons, and grand daughter, most of the time.
