Ha, happy to be the first to comment. And even happier to see you showcase this absolutely fantastic, flagship Sailor pen. I own three Sailor KoPs. This clear demo KoP was the first one I bought, directly from Japan. I love everything about this pen. It is excellently made, of course. The designs, dimensions and all round aesthetics are just great. Perfect feel in the hand. The large #8 sized rhodium plated 21k nib is just sublime and one of a kind. To me, the stellar nib alone makes the pen worth its steep price. I only wish the pen had a special, larger sized converter that would be both more suited to the size of the pen - and also more practical for use. The Broad nib on my pen means the pen runs out of ink far too quickly with so little ink capacity of the converter. Thanks, Emy, for the love and attention to this awesome pen.

:D thank you - also bought mine from Japan :D I dont mind the converter size and the ink volume since im not writing as long as some others but a larger ink volume would benefit this nib/pen.

Thanks for the review of a neat pen, Emy. I agree that the Sailor King Size/KoP 21k nibs are great. I really love mine, although it may have recently moved one rung down in my list (video coming soon ;).

Do they make one of these with gold trim? I really like it but I don't like the silver

Yes. Many of the KoP pens are offered with gold trim. But this clear demo pen only comes with silver trims. edit: there is the Sailor 1911S and 1911L pens offered in clear demo with gold trim.

We have it - in black resin in gold trim and also in the special Christmas Tea Time edition

Good pens. I have one, not the demo, and it's covered in maki-e by Morgan Wisser. For KOP pens I do prefer the vest style shape.

What to say about the Japanese pens my dear friend Emy. I too like you simply love Pilot Custom 845 Urushi Namiki Yukari, Sailor KoP and Pro-Gear King. I have one Pilot Custom 845 Urushi, two Namiki Yukaris (in Vermilion and Black colors), 2 ProGear Kings (both special editions) and one Ebonite King of Pens. I don't feel like using any other pens apart from these. They are so so awesome, juicy and solid. The Japanese have mastered the art of making very premium quality Fountain pens and they have established benchmarks in fountain pen nib making. Their nibs are so beautiful and smooth. I can go on and on talking about the Japanese pen makers - Pilot, Sailor and Platinum.....

:D I have to say that at one point I would be tempted to add the Custom Urushi in Black :D ... I can only agree, the 21k big KoP nib is a top favorite of mine

Good morning. Maiora has come out with pens wich are both eye-dropper and converter supplied ; i think the japanese could do the same considering the price or only Opus 88 and Maiora are capable of reliable eye-dropper systems ?

Morning - its not about capability is about the capacity to change when the numbers of pens that you produce each month is how many pens maiora and opus88 do in a year combined - its simply economics

1. So there is a King Size in between the KoP and the Pro Gear? I'm interested, but google gets zero hits... 2. The Mini is my main pen. I wish they would make some more, with 2, 3, or 4 colors!

No, the pen he shows here is the King of Pens (KoP). It’s Emy’s quirky choice to call it the King Size. The pen is the King, in any case. 😀 The PG Mini pen is really cute and just as splendid as its siblings in the Sailor family. I have a gorgeous limited edition multi-colored Mini (cap, barrel, section, finials all in different colors).

hmmm - not really a different size, we got in contact with Sailor distributor and asked, the official name for the KoP size pens/nib - for the cigar shapes pens it is King of Pen , for the Pro Gear series it is King Size.
