There's no place more exotic than the Spice Islands especially if you spend some time studying the history. All of the nations wanted the spice islands ! I think you've got a good thing going with the cooking channel but probably need to talk a little more explaining. Thankyou

Wow, a totally different scene there or here than the last video! The difference in the way of living cause these folks live in very nice homes compared to shanties on stilts over the water in the last video. The water being deep so close to shore like that is so crazy, cause it looks deep from the video?! So cool learning the cuisine and spices from the island with that nice family! Glad you guy's are having a great adventure in Indonesia, please stay safe and again thanks for taking us along..!

Way back when, this and 1 other Island was the only place you could find nutmeg trees, no other place on earth. The Portuguese finally found the source and wrecked the population, took them over, then it was the Dutch East Indies company, the VOC, then the English came and instead, stole seedlings to plant where they wanted. Pretty interesting history!

Yep yep I talk about this on the next video

Your experience reminds me of Marlborough Sounds as a kid. (1960s) my job was the dinghy boy rowing the line ashore round a tree and get it back to the boat before shit happens. I LOVED THAT GAME and got good at it. Many years later I revisied the sounds in my own boat as a solo.sailor. Nostalgia demanded I do the stern line thing again!! Ah hmm.....very very frustrating when the wind takes the boat all over the place. You have a dedicated crew member in Rhonda and so with practice it will become fun and easy as. BTW I loved your episodes in the Sounds. The tiller failure one was a thriller....I know all about the wind in that place. Love your channel and your gutsy energy and how you have blended with each other.

Most interested in the stern tie - for example how exactly did you figure out where to anchor and when? If it's not too much trouble, can you provide the sequence from beginning to end? Alan on S/V Wind Dancer, Delaware, US
@SailorJames17 күн бұрын
Usually when you are doing shore ties like this you only need to drop about 2 scope of bow anchor. I just find the spot I like, drive in and turn around and drift slowly out, drop the hook, then back up… then get a line ashore and secured. After that you can pay out more chain on the bow as you take in the shore lines bringing you closer to shore until you are happy.

If your unlucky enough to get rats on board after anchoring stern to on that spot, the best and easiest way to get rid of them was with surface spray. Yep, coat in your lockers and bilges with the spray and go ashore, and the usually jum
