Sailing Project Atticus

Sailing Project Atticus

2 жыл бұрын

This week we check off a couple of huge projects on our Atlantic crossing to-do list! We finish installing both Selden furlers, we bend on our new head sails, we install our new running back stays, and we tune the rig.

Please bring back the end of video (transition clip). Where Jordan pushes Des into the water off the swing. 1: That vibe was everything 2: These videos the past several weeks have been ending so abruptly that I’m 5 minutes into ads and a random video pops up before I realize I’ll have to wait another week for more. Please let’s end on a good vibe instead of heartbreak. 😂

I highly recommend never using a winch on the furler line. My swivel at the top jammed and I didn't notice. That caused the halyard to wrap around the forestay and not only did the halyard snap but the forestay unraveled/untwisted. Very scary single handed in the middle of Lake Michigan.

This episode is a master class in editing and creativity. Loved the record scratch when the tape measure hit the water and the honk of the furler line over the anchor. So much fun even for this non-sailor.

I can’t believe all the projects you have accomplished on a boat that was supposed to be low hours and turn key. At least you know every system by now and when things break along the way, you will have confidence that you have disassembled that system before. The best school is Trial and Error. I really enjoy your videos and watching you tackle several jobs, I would have saved for the yard. Smooth sailing.

Outstanding walk through of what it takes to ensure the mast is properly upright & secured! This episode brought back memories of when I had to regularly set up a temporary OE-254 antenna as part of an advanced team. I'm glad there is a device to accurately determine the stress on a cable...if it isn't already part of an annual check, it should be.

We just had to put down one of our oldest doggos an on the 22nd of April nwhich was earth 🌎 she passed quietly but she couldn't walk anymore it was a sad day for us. We had her euthanized at home at home. I had her cremated. She was with us over 15 years and we're going to miss her for ever. She was a great protector an alarm and protected us through thick and thin. Just to give credit where his credit is due. Doggos are amazingly alert to sounds. And we will definitely miss her she was definitely an alertist. And a big love she loved us all Gabby will be missed. 🤗☹️♥️😎👍✌️

Really happy we have a firm "launch" date for the cruising to begin. I love all the preparations going into to making Atticus 2 the ultimate safety first boat. Are you over preparing (?) perhaps but you will know going forward that you are in great shape for extended trouble-free sailing adventures. Better to do the work here where you have great access to all the parts and the tradesman you need then some exotic port where you have no clue where or who to turn to. Keep her up "tick tok, tick tok" ..... 😆 🤣

It’s been great getting to know you guys over the last few years and going on this adventure with you my only complaint is 11 minutes is not enough Atticus time for me I literally look forward to this throughout the week and two blinks later the videos over I know you guys are busy getting ready for the crossing But as an avid follower of Sailing Project Atticus Jordan and Desiree I need more time in the captains chair what can I say! I literally could not put it better myself. I follow many channels, but the one I look forward to most is Project Atticus. My bright spot in the weekly grind of Russian aggression, rampant inflation, BoJo's lies and Partygate, not to mention the crap British weather! My Sunday morning lie-in ritual. Never watch until at least my 2nd coffee, then sit back relax and take it all in. Then the audible groan, followed by strange looks from my wife, who's lying next to me doing the Telegraph Crossword. Just 11.51mins! A "teaser" surely, but alas, no main event! I feel bereft. What now? The Sailing Brothers keeping it real??? BTW, please don't be alarmed, I not some weird creepy stalker guy. I genuinely enjoy what you're doing and find your explanations easy to understand, as well as fun to watch. Your passion for beer and food. Then you top all that, it turns out you're also dog lovers! Desiree and Jordan, please? I know it's hard. I know you're putting all your efforts into the project, but perhaps you could pad it out a bit? Capt Oso chasing sticks to music, maybe, or Desiree eating, boy, can that girl eat!!! Also, a question. I get the idea of the running backstay. I assume they're port and starboard, how did you determine how far back to go and presumably you put it through a cleat. Were these fittings already there or were Pacific Seacraft guiding you?

Hi Jordan. And easier way to center your mast is put say a 10-15 pound weight on the end of your halyard. Take it to the port starboard next to your chain plate and mark the halyard say with even with the rubrail mark the rub rail with a piece of tape same idea as you marked the shroud then take it to the other side and check it on the rub rail the same way a lot easier than you in a chair swinging from side to side Even though it was entertaining 😁

I really love this channel and have been a subscriber and HUGE fan since day 1. But man, I waited a whole week for an 11 minute video :( Seems with every channel, the more it grows...the shorter the videos are. I was just watching sailing GBU and they are docked and refitting their boat and basically gutting it and have so many projects that take a lot of time but they remained true to their subs and push out 25 minute videos and personally I love that because we wait a whole week to watch an episode. This week I was so excited to see yalls episode and didn't even have time to finish a beer. You have a whole week and all we get is an 11 minutes. Come on now Jordan...step it up! The boat is looking awesome and yall have worked so hard...show us more. You may think some thi gs you fo are boring, but to us they are not! Stay safe and we'll. God bless
