As you said it is complicate to sail from Al Ahnk To Emerald Archipielago. But is just true if you do it directly (latitude 31º). But if you go north or northeast until reach latitude 33º, then you will catch the Aestrin's main wind and the journey to Emerald will be waaaaaaaaaay easier ;)

You can absolutely sell your compass right at the start, if you know how top navigate without one. You don't need it to find your way within your starting region, and you can sell it to buy trade goods. Also sell your map. It's worth a lot of money, and you get a free map with every contract you take on. Also sell any box of food you have in the capital. Survive on individual pieces of food from markets and fishing until you have the money and supplies for actual ocean crossings. Getting started is a slow grind, and it becomes easier with a bit more money to get the ball rolling.

Well if you remember on the Brig the ropes tend to pull the boat in so much that you have a noticeable heel on lower docks so much so I generally only use the back rope.

You can do the same thing with the mooring lines as you used to be able to do but now it's via the manual retraction

I guess thats one way to get out of irons. I did a how to vid on fishing and ended up having to get out of irons. Before you know it your bow is facing the wind.

The camera is a "fisheye" so the edges get magnified a bit, compared to other games.
