Filming of Corinne Morris's career relaunch album 'Macedonian Sessions'. Corinne Morris, solo cello, Macedonian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Philip Hesketh conducting.
Recorded and filmed in July 2013.
Although first written for cello and piano by Camille Saint-Saëns, the Allegro appassionato op 43 was orchestrated by the composer in 1876. Both melodious and rhythmically challenging, this work is, in spite of its brevity, one of the composer's most popular works. Fast and passionate, it is nevertheless written in a sad mode, in true romantic tradition.

I love the framing of the video, as it gives a very clear picture of her technique. 1:00 is really great for budding cellists to watch and learn how to make that kind of somewhat tricky shift.

Shame she doesn’t play in tune and why oh why, muck with the tempo so much? Very disappointing performance. Young musicians should spend time listening to the recordings of yesterdays artists, when quality of sound and intonation was paramount. A few hours of scales and Piatti studies wouldn’t go amiss.
