Saints CB Alontae Taylor BLEW ME AWAY as a Rookie: Film Breakdown

In this film breakdown, we take a look at New Orleans Saints 2nd-year CB Alontae Taylor, who blew me away in his rookie year. Taylor is a great athlete with tons of great physical traits that make him a great press man corner. He has exceptional ball skills, and knows how to use his body very well when defending a route. He snuffs out check downs to his side, and is also great moving vertically, whether that's forward or backwards. His only real weakness that I saw is his lateral movement skills. Receivers were able to beat him at the line of scrimmage on slants and quick outs. However, I see Taylor as a very complete corner who is a great CB2 for the Saints in 2023.

Because we’ve been average the last two years people assume we have a bad roster, but where had the most injuries and like 5 different qbs to play lol. Saints have more talent than people think 🤫

... which makes me wonder how Dennis Allen manages to do so poorly with them. I saw a video on how Sean Payton schemed up the D to confuse Tom Brady so effectively that the Saints were 4-0 against him & Allen was DC during that time. I can _maybe_ forgive a former DC for not knowing what Payton did to reduce Winston's INTs enough to make him a respectable starter. But not for failing to learn effective defensive schemes.

@@choosecarefully408 ? SP literally did none of the defensive scheming. That was all DA. Saints D was still top 10 last year. He's just a terrible offensive coach just like Sean isn't the best defensive coach. Saints just need to find a good offensive coordinator.

@@choosecarefully408 Bro. SP did not call the defensive plays nor is it his scheme. The saints had one of the worst defenses in the NFL until DA showed up. If Sp knew defense then Brees would have as many rings as Tom Brady.

I forgot how having been there only since 2015 - that is, since the _second time_ he was DC in N.O., he couldn't possibly have helped the defense all _THOSE_ years & at the same time _is_ the architect of the great defense that stopped Brady that hasn't existed since Sean Payton stopped being the HC. You really explained everything in a way that makes sense without twisting any mere facts to suit whatever narrative you want to be true.

You need fluid hips in the slot and Adebo doesn't have that. Taylor does but besides that, Roby is the starter in the slot.

His awareness is impeccable 👌🏿 to recognize the hb pass and have the i.q. to know that there's help over the top from the safety. There are so many busted defensive plays that has left wr wide open bc of their lack of understanding when help is over the top and when it isn't 🔥
