One does not need to start hardcore. It requires training and over time body adapts to the rhythm of fasting-nonfasting periods. Start with light fast and increase as you feel it possible. Iced tea you can always drink for as long as it does not contain any animal products. ;o)

Saint Mary of Egypt is one of my favorite saints. For years, I asked her to pray for me endlessly so that I may stop defiling myself and the temple which is my body. I Failed many times, But I knew she was praying for me before God for my soul and I knew if not for her, I wouldn't realize how truly evil Pornography of all kinds and other sexual sinful filth really is. St Mary of Egypt, please continue to pray for me before the throne of God for my salvation.

@Alexandre Phaneuf élève Yes, the joke was that since today is April Fool's day, Bojan had to do something funny/prank us. And since we usually only expect one video to be uploaded a day, Bojan was sneaky and made one "joke" video, and another serious video about the Holy Saints Mary of Egypt and Zosimas of Palestine. So, Bojan had us fooled thinking that his April Fool's video was the video of music he gave us, yet we actually did get this video too.

St Mary of Egypt is a wonderful role model to follow, too bad none of us sinners can achieve her level of reverence, though we can pray to come closer to Christ. I am so glad several years ago I found your channel and later became a Patreon supporter. May the Lord keep your family and you safe during this pandemic that we may all celebrate Pascha as one family in Christ. Love in Christ In the Michigan US we are no longer having any Great Lent Services, even the OCA has stop serving. But thank the Lord for live streaming. Why no actual services to attend? We are under the Lord's protection; we take His Body and Blood. Should we die from the pandemic we go Home to be with Christ. Blessed fifth week of Great Lent.

I know this story, it took place in Ein Prat or Wadi Qelt. It is important to say that those monks followed Chariton the Confessor who started the Asceticism in the Judæan desert before he went to Teqoa.

Interesting story but I wonder why this is so different from the version of St. Mary's life I heard before. I remember her having a monk for an uncle who went to rescue her from the brothel, disguised as a potential client. It's his words to her there that make me love that version of the story: "It is no uncommon thing to fall into the mire, but it is an evil thing to lie there fallen."
