As soon as the music started playing I started holding back tears, as an old saints row fan it’s crazy how you grow with these characters, this guy goes from almost dying in a drive by to fighting for what’s left of the galaxy, it’s very bitter sweet because when I was playing this part and diving down the shaft I was thinking “man this is goodbye” This game is very much a love story to the series, every callback and reference to the original games was done with such care. Very beautiful game

as someone who has this year played through the series for the first time, it's shocking to me that SR4 is considered the most divisive entry. I absolutely loved it. it felt like the gleeful, heartfelt and utterly absurd climax to the series.

The problem with SR4 is that it's not an open world shooting/driving game like the previous 3 and other games such as GTA, Mafia, Scarface, Just Cause, etc. but instead an open world superhero game. As a result those who do not like superhero games and expected it to be like the previous 3, did not like it, while those who also like superhero games liked it. I for one consider it by far the best open world superhero game.

​@@Qsallor Personally I don't get why they chose to do a reboot. There were so many good ways to continue the story with these characters. The fact that they can time travel made it possible to set the new games in any time period or even have several time periods in the same game. Going into the past (before the gang was formed) would be a perfect explanation for having to level up again. If I were the writer of the new game this is what the story would have looked like: Kinzie makes a plan to prevent the destruction of the Earth, but building the weapons necessary for the defense requires several years so they have to time travel to a point when they were still unknown and with no influence. Not surprising nobody takes the seriously and they are forced to create the weapons themselves and get the money for them by doing what they did before: illegal activities. In order to have enough money they need to start their businesses as early as the early 1900s then when they are set up they need to time travel to the 1960s to start building the weapons with the money they made, so that they are finished by the 2000s when the aliens arrive (by doing this we get to use weapons and vehicles from all those time periods and see a city evolve over 100 years). The final mission would be a fight against Zinyak, but this time we would have the weapons needed to beat him at the white house and prevent further loss of life on both sides.

I didn't recognize the song because I never grew up with The Transformers Generation 1, but right when The Protagonist said one shall stand one shall fall I immediately geeked out and recognized this as Transformers. I looked up the song and the battle sequence it was originally used in from the original movie from 1986. Every time this scene starts up and The Touch starts playing I geek out so incredibly it's unbelievable.
