Watched Joyland today. I must say that it is one of the best movies in recent times from the sub continent. Regarding ban, I didn't feel at any time that the movie was supporting some specific narrative. It was just showing the lives of different people. I think most of the people should see the movie first and try to conclude their review rather than blindly going against it.

Promotion? Seriously? Do you even know the meaning of art and the purpose of theatr/cinema? It is to basically bring those issues to light (in a dramatic manner/cinematic way) that have been hidden but exist in a society. I just watched it and it shows nothing wrong. Haven't there been extra marital affairs since before this movie was released? Wont they be there in the future? What about child abuse in islamic seminaries in Pakistan? That is worse. That exists too. If a movie hasnt been made on it yet, does that mean it doesnt exist? Or that it wont exist in the future? Or lets say a movie is made, would that suddenly bring such actions to reality? No, because the purpose of literature and art is to simply make one think. If this movie is not promoting homosexuality and it's basic focus is on rights of intersex I would love to watch it but it is said that in this particular film a married man falls in love with transgender.

This film is being appreciated across the globe as it is to start the promotion of LGBTQ in Pakistan. This concept if followed by legalization in the country, can lead to precipitation out of family system.
