saito sensei, really talks about the important aspects of the artist life that no one talks about. help me understand and clear my anxious feelings for the future.
I am usually just give character pose with basic shape as first draft, colored draft like yours might give better idea to how the overall piece might look like to the client. Thanks for sharing your workflow.
I recieved my first commission recently. So glad I watched this video in advance! I couldn't remember the video word for word, but your words guided me subconsciously and the transaction ended in a success! Thank you once again, Naoki Saito-sensei for your valuable advice!
There's a point that's badly subtitled, but with a bit of Japanese listening comprehension ; 14:55 'There are illustrators that hate being corrected so the client becomes afraid of telling, so there are times when the illustrator-side will ask if there is any specific correction, in that case there may be unexpectedly so many corrections, so be careful to not forget to talk with the client(for correction, or direction, from illustrator's perspective)「修正漏れには注意が必要です」
that's very fascinating the rule for not opening ZIP folders, I know about packing virus inside, but I'd never have expected it or anticipated to expect it from clients O.O
I cried when I did my first commission, I did get paid in advance and I submitted drafts but I was asked to revise too many times😭 that person asked me to draw Macbeth and I asked the client for reference of him but I only got pose references…
