It feels illuminating how early on in T8, even if it wasn't optimal training, players were allowed to immediately do the "fun" things and it be meaningful, while with SF6 they're quickly turned towards eating the vegetables. It seems like this instant gratification for newcomers is why Modern did so well for SF6 and why it wasn't needed at all in T8.
@LucDaMan43 ай бұрын
Eating the vegetables is such a good quote
@NickJJU3 ай бұрын
Man, "eating the vegetables" has definitely been my main feeling towards SF6, coming from anime games. I don't get to do cool flashy goofy shit like in GG, I gotta just hit the lab and get clean with hit confirms, really try to tune in to fundamentals like spacing and reactions, etc. But I feel like playing SF6 has definitely made me a better fighting game player overall, where with other games I was gravitating towards gimmicks and getting blown up if people knew the answer. So it does feel like eating vegetables, almost like it's better for my "health" as a fighting game player.

14:00 I was thinking about it, and I think one thing that makes Tekken feel a lil easier when you start is the nature of how lows/highs vs mid work. Because in Tekken you're mostly blocking standing and reading lows, opening up your opponent is way easier. It can be hard to open ppl up in trad fgs because down backing covers most of your options. I'm Tekken the mix is instantly available, in sf you have to unlock your mixups
@A-Spoto3 ай бұрын
The downside of that is that you have to deal with everybody else mixing you as well. I'm new to both Tekken and Street Fighter with the newest games and Tekken has been nightmarish.
@henriquerodrigues77953 ай бұрын
@@A-Spoto ye, for sure. But that's also because you're most likely past the point of learning that I or Sajam were referring to, which is like complete beginners. Like he said, once you reach intermediate in Tekken, it really quite a nightmarish endeavor

The only people that say Tekken is the hardest game are people that have only ever played Tekken, or have never played Tekken lol. In fact every Tekken player in my scene that picked up a 2D game for the first time with SF6 and Strive before that was complaining how hard the game was and how it was too fast. This is not a Tekken exclusive thing btw, it's like this with all the exclusionary scenes. SFIV was like this. Melee is like this right now. In reality most games that come out around the same time have more or less the same level of difficulty, cause they're all influenced by the Zeitgeist around the time they came out.

Tekken is systematically much more complex, most people barely use it to full potential, which lead to a much simpler fight. Combo is honestly easier since theres no need for motion input in most cases. But in SF you have to make multiple good decsion to take a round with meter managemnet and stuff. Tekken you can win with 2 good launches Hence at a high level tekken is harder to stay consistent. Sf is harder to get into in the beginning

I think people need to take more advantage of WT and Avatar battles. Seeing your character do cool moves and learning the game in a low stress enviornment helps I feel. Also being in a lobby with people of like skill. I think SF especially benfits from having a rival or a partner you can run sets with. Hopefulyl the new systems that are coming will help people figure some things out. The thing about avatar battles is that people of all skill levels play them. I've seen people who have all master characters absolutley wreck havoc to people who don't know too many moves, but they know how to chain specials together and can still wreck people. I know alot of people don't like the health and items aspect, but honestly it helps the match last alot longer as well. I use avatar battles to help find builds but since the base kit generally has to stay the same, it helps me learn base kits along with what can be DI'd out of along with what can cancel into special moves. Its helping me keep my intrest in the game immensly.
