Thank you for this. 🤩🤩 I recently (re)watched Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven, so this video comes at the perfect time - the movie version of Saladin to me has always seemed more knightly and noble than some of the Crusaders characters, and I’ve always wondered how much historically accurate that portrayal is (I tried to do some research, but I couldn’t find any real information aside from the usal cold dates and data).

Thank you so much for watching! Richard the Lionheart even offered his own family members hand in marriage to Saladin, conveying the two had a good relationship towards the end. Saladin had a habit of forming truces with many enemies he had gone to war with. But yes, most sources convey him as chivalrous, he did not slaughter the christians when he took Jerusalem, whereas during the fall of Jerusalem during the first crusade they slew all Muslims in Jerusalem. Hope this gave some insight

@@historyprofiles I think most of the events of the show are completely fictional but many of the characters are based on historical figures. Ertugrul, Noyan, Emir Sadettin for example. The show even references Ogedei Khan's rule over the Mongols and his mysterious death which could make an interesting video.

Unfortunately there are not that many paintings of Saladin or his army, I tried to sneak some in there. Also with modern illustrations, it would take months to email every individual artist and ask for their permission to use their picture in the video. That’s why I use the AI, I also can’t afford to pay an animator or anything like that so this is the best I got
