Was it really necessary to have those extra Windows Movie Maker-generated captions on the video? Otherwise, a wonderful moment in game show history :)

There was two turning points that led to Mark DeCarlo’ s road to victory on NBC’s Sale of the Century was middle contestant taking $1,495.00 leather chair with $1k bonus in the instant bargain segment and the Sackeejwa question that the 2nd contestant missed incorrectly that led him to victory winning $115k. Amazing.

No way! In the Jimmy Neutron episode, "Win, Lose, Kaboom" Hugh Neutron (voiced by Mark DeCarlo) won Intergalactic Showdown by answering a tiebreaker question correctly that not only won the game and a car, but saved the Earth! That was a reference to this remarkable moment! You know, Hugh Neutron may not be the sharpest tool in the toolbox but he and his voice actor certainly know how to shock an audience at the least likeliest moments

I hope Buzzr needs to bring this episode in better quality. This classic episode was fine, but someone was using Windows Movie Maker is fake with the exception of his winning moment where they used this sound effect which was stolen from DSW from "The Price Is Right"which was also fake. They don't exist back in 1985. I want this classic episode to be on Buzzr.

This is that mysterious show that came up before Wheel of Fortune and Scrabble in the 80s. One of the very first memories of a TV line up in my memory, goes back to when I was about 3 years ago. This was a mysterious show with people behind an orange table with old school microphones and there wasn't any major interactions like the other shows that had the wheel, or the game boards. I played around on wiki until I found it and I went to this video to confirm. And this is exactly it and now I can at least see what this game is about, which is apparently just trivia questions and buying prizes.

Wow, Mark can thank the contestant coordinators for picking two total dunces to go against him in this game. Almost nobody in a tight game falls for such crappy instant bargains (spelled with an "a", by the way :D), and these two were buzzing away at this junk (a reclining chair with an AM/FM radio -- certain to have ended up as landfill no later than 1988!) while Mark was missing question after question, and yet won by $5. Any other challengers would have wiped the floor with him on this episode, he was incredibly lucky ;)

If it's your first day on the show, $1000 for the value of two questions is hard to pass up.
@bencalebrod8 жыл бұрын
+schmolik1 Yeah. If anything, Mark has the producers/Jim to thank for making the instant bargains so enticing for his opponents. I believe this was the ONLY time in U.S. Sale history that someone was offered a $1,000 cash incentive to buy an instant bargain on their first show. They sure were desperate to give Mark the best chance of winning and being only the 2nd person to win the lot on the daytime version.
@Scottwilkie182 жыл бұрын
She’s probably kicking herself with that Pocahontas answer
@philipalt95603 ай бұрын
Yeah, but she can’t be too hard on herself. On the tiebreaker question, she knew she probably needed to buzz in before Mark, because in her mind, if he buzzed in first, he was going to get it correct. Unfortunately for her, this might have been a little too soon, because I don’t think Mark would have gotten this right either on limited information. The real problem was when she took that final instant bargain with the $1,000 cash added to it. However, for a first day player, it’s very difficult to turn that down, especially when going up against a champion as tough as Mark, because if you don’t win, you’d at least like something to show for your efforts.

Mark should not have won. "Olympia" is absolutely not the same as "Olympus" - one is the name of a mountain, the other is not. The judges should have taken his first answer (a common rule of any game show) and so his final score should have been $10 less.

i would agree, but he would of only been $5 behind which would of led to him taking more chances, but seeing how it played out, most likely he would not of one, although very little to support that notion. The woman had it won and choked.
