@@MyAce8 Pichu has a surprisingly not terrible (or not as terrible as some like to believe) matchup against say, c falcon, especially when considering fd and chaining like a dozen up airs into nair. However, pichu can't exactly do the same thing to salem's peach, since peach is floaty and is able to scrap with pichu well enough. M2K pichu will probably take longer than zelda in all seriousness, but Salem will get better as the series progresses so who knows.

a lot of missed grab opportunities with link. M2k's strat seemed to be to shield approaches and projectiles and punish link's bad endlag. A couple of successful grabs would maybe condition him to shield less I guess?

I noticed this to. I don’t think Salem attempted to grab once with link. His peach his by far his best character so far. He is good at setting up covering rolls out of shield and used dash dancing to trick M2k into letting him get a grab.

Oh also i disagree with how much salem picks battlefield, i think zelda does best on stages with lots of close together platforms and does worst on stages with no platforms followed by stages with spread out platforms

idk zelda is pretty bad especially against fox/falco/marth who are the most prevalent in the meta game. Characters like roy actually have some counter play against most of the top tiers. Zelda doesn't have true combos on any characters, and gets combo'd really hard by everyone dies early, range on only one move which is not safe on shield and is generally extremely punishable. I think kirby even has an argument for being better, since at least he can approach with pivot up tilt, and he can kinda combo some characters. In the end his lack of kill options probably keeps her above him but its close. It just so happens M2K is insane with zelda, I think I remember him saying he has the same amount of hours in zelda that he does in captain falcon. I think roy/g&w are in a tier above zelda. Roy has some un-winnable matchups but his matchups against fox/falco are borderline good, and having decent matchups against the most represented characters I think was undervalued, but then again M2K was basing his list on solo maining. And g&w is just better in everyway compared to zelda.

@@MyAce8 in terms of true combos zelda dosent have alot yeah but she does have a chaingrab from 0 to 50 followed by an up throw lightning kick on spacies, plus a weird but very usable chaingrab on falcon on falcon which i think goes to the mid 30s which can end in a lightning kick. She also has dash attack to lightning kick on atleast spacies on quite a far lot of percents

Melee Link is such a laggy and unfun character to play as. Sucks that one of my favourite Nintendo characters is my least favourite in Melee. He's somewhat better in Sm4sh but even Ganondorf is way more satisfying and fun to play as.
