Hi all!
Exactly one week before Jared and I got married, we headed into Anchorage from our remote Alaska village to go shopping for my families resort. I was already heading in for other work, and thankfully Jared was able to come in for the day and help me! I don't know if I could have done it without him.
So enjoy this little vlog of us shopping together for my families resort in remote Alaska.

It always amazes me how you shop and ship things to remote villages in Alaska. We just take for granted that I can drive 20 minutes to get to Costco were I live. It does look like an interesting life.😊

Wow did that bring back memories. Hubby and I took care of a hunting n fishing lodge in New Zealand. We had to buy for 3 month and that supply shopping trip was daunting, but the store in town was use to it. We had to fly in by helicopter. That bill was over 1200.00 but that was 18 years ago. Kisbee Lodge South Island New Zealand. Your young man reminded me of my hubby. Silly but hard working. Hes a keeper!

Wow! When we lived in Bethel AK, we would go into town/ Anchorage for the sole purpose of shopping, to stock up basics and ship everything back by freight. Initially, I was mortified as we filled cart after cart with toilet paper, shampoo, snacks etc. That embarrassment faded soon, when I realized that other people also from the Bush, would be there with their overflowing multiple carts. Hoarding never seemed more normal 😊

Genuine question, why would it be embarrassing to have the money to afford a lot of grocery? Your comment is very interesting. I’ve never considered that. Having a card declined for a few things is the only circumstance I’ve ever thought as embarrassing while shopping

What were you doing in Bethel? I’m from there originally but moved to Palmer in the early 2000’s, then we sold our home there in 2021 and are now full time rv’ing in the lower 48.

I used to work at Cafe Michele in Talkeetna before she closed down and we would make runs to the Costco in Anchorage every so often. After a few years there I moved back to the lower 48 in 2011 and Ive miss Alaska every single day of my life since. Hopefully one day I can bring my kids back for a vacay. I would have lived there permanently but I was really missing my Dad! Love your little Channel by the way, it makes me so nostalgic! 😭

ok.. a couple of things.......1) the music when you aren't talking is unnecessary, because 85% of the time you were talking anyways, and the music was too, too loud compared to your talking voice, necessitating us to turn down/turn up the volume... .....2) you bought alot of perishables.... milk, sour cream, yogurt, frozen veg, ice cream....... but YOU DIDN'T EXPLAIN HOW YOU KEEP IT COLD/FROZEN FROM THE STORE TO THE RESORT! 3) you explained at least SIX TIMES that you were buying for your resort and not for personal use......... we get it...... don't be so repetitive!. 4) you did not explain how you store all these perishables at the resort..... do you have a walk-in frig/walk-in freezer? We don't know, cuz you didn't tell us..... 5) how long will the food from this trip last? We don't know, because you didn't tell us..... we do know the staff arrives soon..... next week maybe? but how many staff do you feed? We don't know, because you didn't tell us........Do you personally fly down to Anchorage every week to do this shopping during the season? You didn't buy any fruit. No blueberries, bananas, apples, oranges, melons...... You also didn't buy any fresh veg....... tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, avocados, beets, green onions, lettuce, brown/yellow/purple/sweet onions, shallots/garlic........... do you grow your own at the resort? We don't know, because you didn't tell us............what about toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and cleaning supplies? You didn't buy any, why? You didn't tell us.

@@Anna08371 I never said I was entitled to anything, silly. I am telling Salina, who has 81K viewers and 25K views but only 92 comments on this video.......... that her content could be better............. more interesting........ by telling us more about what she is doing and why.............. If the whole point of making KZbin Videos is to make money off them by growing the subscriber viewing base......... then the videos have to be interesting, fun to watch, full of personality, informative....... and certainly not repetitive......Of course, Salina can do whatever she wants........ be repetitive and blast her music, but I'm suggesting ways to grow her base from less than 100k to up and beyond one MILLION viewers. Isn't that why all content providers do what they do? To make money? It doesn't matter if you own a resort, a farm, cook italian, decorate studio apartments, etc............. the key to subscribers is be chatty, share information and be interesting and personable and above all TELL A STORY. I think she's got the beginnings of something very sweet....... but right now, it needs work. If her viewers won't tell her, who will?
