5:01 I've listen to Burt talk about Sally and Sally talk about Burt. As an outsider, but a man who thinks he gets it because I'm that way, Burt wanted Sally to be the strong woman that would stand up to him like in Smokey and the Bandit. Stand up to him with his AND their best interest at heart. He wanted her to be like her character and she says "I just couldn't do it". Everybody bowed to Burt's will, he was looking for a counter balance to help him make wise decisions. He hoped it would be Sally.

Yes I think you could be right. He had dated older women in the 70's and might have been looking for a strong woman and partner by his side. Somebody to give him good advice and keep his feet on the ground, balance the stardom. From her interview here, at that time at least she wasn't that kind of woman. In reality when the cameras stopped rolling he wasn't the Bandit and she wasn't a runaway bride. 🙂Pity because anybody could see they had something if the stars had aligned.

Why do people diminish past relationships 😕 by applying logic? 🤔 each relationship we learn and grow, but there is Love nonetheless.

I really can't figure out why folks are cracking on her. They TRIED for five years....and FINALLY she got her fill. ....and she moved on. Burt married Loni and we ALL KNOW how THAT TURNED out....was Sally the LOVE of his life. ...if that's what Burt said....then he ment it...unfortunately...Sally had MOVED ON. ....and NOTHING wrong with it.

Sally, Dinah, Loni, whoever he else he was in love with, his first love was himself. Any of these women mentioned were sufficient if he knew himself. He played with his fame in a selfish way.

I have followed her career for years, and I read her memoir. I realized I thought she was a certain type of person, but in fact she is not the "Norma Rae" persona I thought she was. Why did she never marry? Why did she never attain a boyfriend? She is not like me.

To Sally Field, no matter what you have been through together, your comments are unnecessary and very hurtful and I don't know why you made them public! You think you're so great? Sally, far from it! Your comment from the Actors Studio, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates? Your answer: you were brilliant! Good one!
