As a southerner from Georgia my mother always cooked grits as the side dish for her salmon croquettes. I am almost 60 years old and that’s how we still serve them today. I’m going to have to try your recipe though because that is a good idea to use bread as the binder.

I love salmon patties. I coat with panko or crushed crackers, I add minced onions, sometimes celery and use dill, onion powder and I serve with mac n cheese, fried apples or apple butter, lady cream peas, corn muffins or sticks and a green of some kind. I hated mom's salmon, she never picked the skin off or the boney stuff. Once I found skinless and boneless salmon I was hooked! lol

This was my daughters favorite food before and during her teenage years. Of course she wanted creamed peas as a sauce. I always thought that was weird given her age.

This was and still is a family favorite. Growing up.it was a Lenten Friday meal. You can use crumbled crackers as the filler. My mom never added any seasoning but I add lemon juice or lemon pepper seasoning, onion powder. Simple, easy meal. We eat our patties with fried potatoes, green beans and cottage cheese. Lol now I want some!

I also like the Walmart salmon Chicken Of The Sea 5 oz boneless skinless pink. You don't need a can opener it has a pull open lid. Perfect for traveling. Combine it with Walmart 1 minute Brown Rice single serve and a Rico Single serve cheddar cheese, of course the spices Diced onions and garlic and others. Microwave in a soup bowl and sometimes I'll add canned mixed vegetables, anyways you're eating healthier than any fast food. Haven't tried this but I will be, thank you for your ideas.

Thanks so much. I just used diced green pepper 🫑... Seasoned with Sazon and garlic powder 🧄... I used bread crumbs at the end to bind it. That tip helped a lot. Many other recipes call for adding the crumbs to the mix...but that never works for me. Also I like how you make them smaller nuggets. As a dio, I used sour cream. Ate it for breakfast and loved it. Thanks for the GREAT tips! Finally I can use all these cans of salmon!! 🙏🏽 Thanks!

There are definitely many variations on how to make these, but I have never met one I did not like! There is a lot of flavor in the liquid the salmon is packed in, so I always add some to my mixture. Adding baking powder will help the patties/cakes/croquets be a bit lighter.

This is one of my favorites. I used crumbled crackers instead of bread crumbs inside the patties along with sauteed onions and celery (don't forget the DILL). My mom always made cheese sauce to cover the patties, but I am too lazy, so I just top with a half a piece of cheese on each one and melt it.

We use canned salmon for this recipe, and also grind up the rest of the beef roast or pork roast and do the same thing. It makes the same protein taste completely different, and we eat up ALL of the roast! We also make patties from leftover potato, too. TFS.
