I’ve been exploring the major creek in Vancouver a lot lately. (Won’t name) I know you can’t me give exact locations and that’s perfectly OK - some of the fun is finding it for myself..,but, I’d like to ask if you think the winter runs will push up into that water system later, and if so is it allowed to be fished in the winter months?
@cluelessfisherman45553 жыл бұрын
@@gB-gm7vy the biggest creek is stocked with 35k-40k winter steelhead smolt and they start hitting the creek mid-late January

What kinda rod reel and line set up did you use for this I have a medium heavy ugly stick and pflugger 40x reel I wanted to attempt using for salmon this year just trying to prep what I’d need at this point
@cluelessfisherman45552 жыл бұрын
The rod is a 10ft 6in 8-15lb Okuma SST fitted with a pflueger supreme reel, it's a great setup for bobber fishing and is good quality for the price....you could go to 11ft to help with mending your line.
@cluelessfisherman45552 жыл бұрын
Also....I use 50lb braid for my main line and 15-20lb SST fluorocarbon for my leader

I live in Texas and had a salmon fishing trip booked in BC for This coming August but it was canceled due to Covid. I am still coming to Washington the first of August to try some river Salmon fishing. Would you tell me the general area NW, W Central or SW and is it any good in mid August into September.

Just wondering if an okuma guide select pro is a good salmon rod?
@cluelessfisherman45552 жыл бұрын
Yes it is....mine is 7 yrs old and has been beaten up, had a broken eye which now makes a 10'3" awesome bobber rod.....for salmon my 10'6" bobber rods are Okuma and my 7'9" twitching rods are Lamiglas "THE TWITCH", They cost 99$ and are an amazing pole for any salmon

Had one of my most memorable mornings in that spot. 3 casts, 3 fish. Was in may and first cast caught a dime summer run, second cast caught a spawned out winter run, third cast right at the top of the run I hook into a springer. Adrenaline already through the roof I fell fighting the springer and about broke my hand. Still landed fish, all with out a net. Love this river.

This river always sucks me in because of how scenic it is even if the fishing can be hit or miss...after losing to many fish last year I vowed to never be without a net again...ty for watching and may the fishing gods be on your side😁

Is that a orange beed you were using?
@cluelessfisherman45553 жыл бұрын
Its orange cured coho salmon eggs from last year. A lot of professionals say use red but orange cured eggs work great for me...store bought eggs have never worked for me!!!. but a small company you should look up online is Sunrise baits out of Oregon..I have no affiliation with them but last fall I used there cured eggs and filled a punch card with Coho Jack's by September 5 on my local river and all were good size for Jack's..
