I remember fishing Torch Lake late at night with my dad and brother and I remember fish would gather at the front and back of the boat where the night lights were, I assume just as they did when the natives would use their torches to attract them. It's a pretty cool memory of that special place. We still go there every year, since 1990 (still don't catch any fish, Torch is a hard one to cast, on occasion we pick up a smallmouth on the big points, but it's rare)

Very interesting, well that makes sense that the catching is so tough. The Native Americans typically lured the fish to the surface with Torches as we know from the name, Lake Trout and Whitefish, which are both deep water fish and tough to catch casting. They would spear them. It is one beautiful lake and a great place to be. I am glad to hear you are able to make a trip there every year. Thanks for watching and sharing.
