Thank you gentlemen for giving me a wonderful picture of home. I was Born and Raised in Millinocket and fished up there by Charlie Prays old camps and along the West Branch and all the lakes around there, and fished with my grandfather on south twin lake . I have been away from home except for emergencies with family since joining the military and retiring in Montana on the Missouri river in Great Falls.

Nice salmon Donnie great job fighting him!! Try this trick cusking , I have a "large" piece of reflective tape on the upper shaft on my traps. Next , I have a "smaller" piece wrapping around the flag. Set the traps in a straight line or close to it going away from the shack, park your sled so the head light shines on them . Start your sled periodically . From a distance the reflective tape appears like a dot. If the "smaller" dot is above the "large" dot you have a flag. Good luck! Thanks Joe!!!

have you guys ever considered using a finicky fooler or ifish pros so you could fight the fish on a rod instead of handlining the jack traps?

I keep threatening to but most of the times conditions are harsh with wind and snow blowing and freezing temps so the Jack traps are completely weather proof no mess ups but I do like a rod fight . I’d say you have more control and better drag system using your hands and a way better feel for the fight . I’ll be jogging this week for cusk and lakers mostly

Cusk seem to bite more during day if overcast. If sunny then bite is usually off. Of course I haven't fished for them in years
