Awesome. I was at the Olympic Training Center in CO Springs for a few years (2006-2008), and the Incline was a major bragging rights test. It was a great equalizer between sports. From cyclists, to triathletes, to speed-skaters, all the athletes were always trying to best each others' times up it. These were the "private property" years, so the trail was definitely "unimproved". It's crazy to see the crowds in this video! Kudos to the volunteers who have made the incline what it now is.

I first rode the incline in 1972 and did a little of the trail at the top. The joke that the operator told us was, "If the cable snaps, there are two springs at the bottom to stop us... Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs!" I came back with my family when my kids were in high school and was broken hearted that the incline had shut down. Didn't realize you could walk it. I used to live in the Springs around that time too. The remake of the incline looks great, and a lot safer. I was able to do it a couple years ago when I went back there on vacation. The old school incline was a death trap, but it was a great place to be back then. Like so many places around the area that were gems for hiking, now they’re covered in tourist and people. That’s a good thing though, at least people are exercising. The Punch Bowls was the best hike in the Springs, but now you need to book that hike months in advance.

I'd seen awesome photos of the Incline from Rob Lucas for several years before I actually got to do it. In 2016, I planned a two week vacation that would end with the family crossing the Grand Canyon, so our first stop was Manitou Springs. We did the Incline and the Pikes Peak Railway to get acclimated to the effort and altitude (we live in VA around 300' above sea level). Then hiking/sightseeing in Moab (Arches, Canyonlands), Bryce, Zion, and finally the Grand Canyon. We started at the North Rim, camped at Cottonwood, Bright Angel, then hiked up the South Rim. The Manitou Incline was crucial in getting the family ready for that final climb up the South Rim. This trip was the best family vacation we've ever had and I have great memories. My youngest was three at the time, so lucky for me he doesn't remember much, so I'll get to take him back. I wish I lived closer, I'd love to have access to the Incline.

They have been looking to revitalize the trolley but I think a project like this would be a lot more economical and probably better used.

Wow, that looks fantastic! I'd like to try that Manitou Incline at some time in my life and I have the perfect place to train for it. I live in a small village in the north of England and we have here a Victorian-built staircase made up of 220 stone steps running up the side of a reservoir. Each step is slightly larger than those you'd find on a typical flight of stairs in any normal building. Pretty much unique in the whole of Britain and virtually unknown outside the area - and I reckon it'll stay that way. It is the "personal" workout space for me and many local people here. When the virus panic is well and truly over, I think I'll be heading to Colorado!

I live in the mountains of British Columbia and can attest to the spirituality of climbing a mountain...The sweat, blood and stress on the body, the thin air that squeezes your lungs all to stand on top of a summit and get your reward of scenes and vistas that no photograph can capture. "It ain't the size of the mountain that stops you from climbing it, it's that pebble in your shoe." Muhammad Ali

Unique climbing experience, following an old staircase of railroad ties for 1-mile at a steep grade of incline is truly amazing.

Thanks for the video, it brought back memories when I was a "Conductor" on the incline. It was temporary for a month or so before I transferred over to the Manitou and Pikes Peak RR.

Once more a great video capturing all the elements of the local community and much more... congrats to the whole team! Being quite far away from these spectacular places, your work brings them into our houses...🙏

Great little film about the people and the Incline. It's the experience and the people that climb it that matter. Well done.

Made me think of Adam’s Peak (Sri Lanka) which really is a pilgrimage of +5500 steps all the way up a mountain. On top is a temple. I think you go almost 1km up. Did it in 2017, was pure hell. But now I’m want to try this one, looks fun!

It looks amazing from the town. We have a popular steep climb here in Hamilton NZ called the Hakarimata Steps. Its like half as much elevation as this one but its still super popular. Amazing what a good trail can do for communities - becomes a focus point for everyone looking to get fitter

The world is filled with good. Why do we ever get sucked into feeding so much bad with likes and views? Let’s all try harder to break this pattern. Start with liking this. Know that there will always be those 76 people who will dislike. They must be miserable. Pity them and praise the others. We have a little place nearby that has a lot of stairs. Nothing Like this but it has that same effect on people. More towns need a place like this. Thank you for this channel and thank you for this video.

I run to work and back nearly every day (4k total), yes, on my 1 1/2 year old Salomon very cool running shoes, lol, which are still going so why give em up! Maybe only a total of 75' of incline, but hey, still a special workout personally... but must say, very happy to have stumbled on this rather invigorating vid and actually never heard of this Incline before! Absolutely fantastic short film .

I traveled from WI to do the incline. I like to do something fun for my birthday. I got to Manitou Springs on September 21-2020 and did the incline on 9-23 then on to Barr camp. It went so well that I decided to stay and do it again on my birthday 9-28. I love the incline and the people I met there. I even met Steve that is in this video and Jill that checks people in at the bottom. I stayed at the Silver Saddle Motel. Great people, great place all of Manitou Springs. I'll be back for sure. Two day drive, definitely worth every minute.

I'm wondering how those aiming for records on Inclined are dealing with the weather conditions. Afterall it's 2000ft elevation gain and they're high at the bottom already. What about the winter storms, etc?
