My first biggest investment as a beach fishing guy was switching from mono to braid. More fish and bigger fish being able to cast further. Second was a longer rod 6.5 to 8 feet third was circle hook from J hook.

I prefer wade fishing I have a kayak also it cost me a little over 300 dollars tax and all I catch plenty of redfish trout and flounder on the dauphin island side of Alabama I also believe if you find the fish it doesn't matter what bait your using your gonna catch fish I don't carry a lot of tackle when I go fishing just what I can fit in a 3600 box I carry more rigging options than I do lures as far as soft plastics go i just keep it simple and catch fish

surf fishing for smaller species is the cheapest and easiest way. gulp sand worms go a long way. even frozen peas work well for surf perch. a saltwater reel is probably the only required investment. on the west coast, surf perch are plentiful and everywhere. and the sand fleas are free

I tell anyone if you really love doing it, it's worth putting money into. You don't need to spend big money to enjoy doing something. I like to refer to upgrading it. I have bought more dependable poles and reels cause saltwater is abusive to gear. With spending more money on reels I've lost weight which helps casting all day. Small reels also now a days have a lot of drag that you probably won't touch lol. Love the salt strong brand which I push all day every day. I buy a lot and also give a bunch away to people who want to do it.

I took somebody out fishing with me One night and I was catching He was not. He asked me I got the same Lure on my line. And I'm catching every cast. I said you filled the pen fish bite He said yes I told him. To set the hook when he felt a pen fish. He started catching Happy. Happy customer.

Very true! I have a Alibiba 4000 reel that works great after 6 years, just wash it after using it. Every 3-4 month grease it. Paid 8 bucks.
