I remember when my dad and i went fishing and he was using this exact set up and time goes by i forgot how to tie them and it is such a great rig to set up i remember as a kid i used to fish a lot at the piers. Thank you sir you not only help me to relearn this but also remember amazing memories with my old man

After seeing a few videos on this knot I actually thought yours was better than there’s but the experience helped. I agree that big thick line with bright colors is easier to learn from when doing knot tying videos. This is the first video I saved so You must have done something right.

You are AMAZING!!!! Thank you!!!! You are the best on entire internet, thank you very much spent hours searching for good example how to do it and in few minutes with you video I made it !!!!!!

A good tip is to keep a shallow bowl with a bit of water while tying, anytime ur pulling the knot together u can wet the line so it doesnt have as much friction and heat coming together

just caught a nice striper using this method yesterday. proof that it works well.
@adwhite8042 жыл бұрын
I'd also recommend weight sliders , especially for the cast eyed weights...they can tear up your line pretty good. And its a bonus cuz of that weight isn't working...you clip it off and add weight... Or strait slide weights..but often they only go as high as 2 or 3 ounces depending on the bait & tackle store ..
@adwhite8042 жыл бұрын
But if you got a Cabela's,/Basspro ( same thing now) or an academy you can find up to 6 ounce sliders...or ofcourse Amazon which I'm sure somebody makes crazy huge ones as well. Great tips ...great info on proper knots etc...

Mine is similar to this except I don't cut the loops where the knot goes, I like to loop the hooks like you did the sinker for interchangeability or if I want it permanent I use a palomar knot on the hooks, also this way there are two lines holding the hook for added durability against abrasion.

Cool video..Thanks. Question: do you think using three-way swivels does not work as well?
@tonyacevedo31494 жыл бұрын
No problem! I try to avoid any excess tackle on the rig when possible. 3 way swivels work just fine but if fishing very clean water it may deter fish. Also more gear you'll lose/spend money on if you lose the rigs.
@spector_85714 жыл бұрын
Yea they work fine if you want to use them but it’s less expensive when you lose some of them so I use these

you can get fancy and complicated but i find it unnecessary to have that T joint, i use loop knots for everything but i will put twists in the hook lines to keep them away from the main and it works just fine for me, finding the simplest solution that does the job is the way to go imo

@strichards53374 жыл бұрын
I would have preferred to see the vid posted with the rig tied with better hook spacing. Appreciate time is limited but I’ve come to value the high standard of content from Salt Strong. Better to have posted a better final product given how likely viewers are to follow what they see and not what’s said.
@joeskaggs97994 жыл бұрын
You are kiddd=ing, right? Like you can't add a few inches between hooks? Just start tying!
@strichards53374 жыл бұрын
Joe Skaggs not kidding at all. And you kinda missed the point in your reply. I’m a Salt Strong supporter. I’m here watching your content. I’m subscribed, giving upvotes, leaving comments. All those things asked for to improve the metrics. And I was genuine when I made the comment. Hooks are to close. They are likely to tangle. Not guaranteed but to be avoided. People come to Salt Strong for guidance. Better their skills. See how they should be doing it. You’re a better angler than me. Way better. No harm or foul be saying such. But this rig wasn’t tied as well as it should have been and if Salt Strong is giving us the valued and competent guidance I’ve come to appreciate from them; from you ... in this case, post an updated vid and share why spacing on the hooks can matter. No, I wasn’t kidding. Thanks for the content. I’ll be here for the next one.
@mazzzzila4 жыл бұрын
Can't please people. The spacing depends on the depth of water and structure you are fishing in. He showed a great video and pretty detailed too, on how to make a rig, if you need an exact measurement of spacing, then you must provide all the info of where you fish in at that particular time. Next place you go it may change. Btw you have to find what will work for you and no what works for youtubers unless you are fishing out of their boat with them.

Hi Tony , I like your presentations but this time I’m going to come down a little hard on you. You lack the photographic knowledge of presentation. It’s called contrast. You could have used yellow string and get the lens in closer . Can you imagine your fly tying mentor from 3’ away tying an intricate fly ..? It’s always light against dark, dark against light ..
