In your video you did not mention the reason why the VST had to be replaced but after it was replaced you made the comment "that fixed it", can you explain what was wrong with the motor prior to the replacement? My Yamaha is acting up and many people are suggesting VST filter replacement. My engine starts fine, idles great, runs at WOT throttle perfectly but I am having issues with hesitation during hole shot. Interested in what your engine was doing prior to the VST filter replacement.

I have a 2005 F150 TXR Yamaha @ the time I was having the problem the motor had appox 300hrs.on it. Motor ran great stopped @ a spot to fish went to start it and motor turned over but wouldn't start. Then tried again this time pressed button on side of binicial to disengage frd/rev and it throttled up fine had to do this @ each stop. All this time motor ran fine, hole shot up on plane no lack of power or hesitation. Brought it in to shop and tech pulled VST tank changed all necessary filters and No problems boat runs great now with 450 hrs on her. I believe Yahama recommends to service the VST @ appox 350hrs of run time. the time I had my problem couldn't locate.anyone that had the issues I was having. Tech wasn't even quite sure that the VST tank was the problem judging by the symptoms I was having. He even called me 3 days later to verify that motor was performing well. Good Luck and hope this helped someone

I just had an issue with my 2014 150 Yamaha, never had the engine serviced by a mechanic. It wouldn't run over 3500 rpm and seemed sluggish, the vst tank was full of trash caused by water in my tank. I was having a water issue for awhile. I had an onboard filter/water separator plus inline filter before the fuel got to my motor so would have thought that tank would be clean. The mechanic said the worst hes seen in awhile. Having pump and all filters replaced.

I have seen mechanics run the engine when the hose is connected to the flush port, you just need to make sure you have plenty of water pressure.

Mark Morgan thank you so much Man! Greatly appreciate that! His motor is the SHO he actually just modified the Cowling and things so it just looks like the standard but it’s not. The only other differences is his is a few years older also his is a 20” and mine is a 25”. But I can definitely see why the coverage of his engine threw you off.
