One of the greatest ever imhop. And besides his incredible skill his cardio was GOD tier. Like somebody else said in the comments, he never once opened his mouth to breathe. Ever. And his face never changed expression during a fight either. No happiness, no anger, nothing. Along with his elusiveness, it must have been like trying to fight the wind. Rest In Peace, Champ.

Legendary fighter because he fought legendary fighters an beat em. one thing I do respect about his fight game is that rhythmic bounce. you have to have otherworldly conditioning to do that for 15 rounds while leveling and being evasive and always being ready to defend.

The reason for that term 3 lungs,,,If you notice fighters from Mexico city they work out from the high elevation up in the mountain the air is thin and it open up your lungs so never get tired on low levels....If you ever go to Mexico try walking around the city and you instantly get tire quick.

Sanchez was a very good, well conditioned fighter, who excelled against limited competition.A lot of fighters build there reputation off of competition they match well against. He fought one great fighter, and that fighter was a little man moving up in weight - Wilfred Gomez.I saw all his live television fights and feel he could have or possibly should have, lost two:Patrick Ford and Ruben Castillo.Castillo,I most definitely think beat him,he landed so many clean combinations! but Sanchez got the decision. You see, if he had lived,it eventually would have been revealed that he wasn't as great as people think. He would have moved up in weight eventually and an obvious match up would have been against Alexis Arguello at 130 pounds. All I can say is if Patrick Ford, who had the almost identical size and reach as Alexis, could go virtually even with Sanchez for 15 rounds, then Alexis, who was twice the fighter as Patrick Ford would have had little problem beating Sanchez.Another fighter,he almost certainly would have encountered would have been Hector Camacho at 130 pounds. This would have been a one sided disaster for Salvador for he lacked the speed and power to deal with Camacho. He was very good, but not great!

His slips where incredible. The way he would change level, slip and, close the gap, right inside, real real close and see what’s up. either throw shots or move out, depending on what presented itself. Always trying to stay aware of his positioning and his opponents . where his shoulders were etc. He wasn’t waiting and reacting. it’s a kind of offensive defensive marriage. Naazim Richardson (RIP).

I read in some other video exactly what I was unable to find the feeling Sanchez gives when watching him...."It's the Ronaldinho of Boxing"....You know in soccer there are great football players, some of them you know the have a great career, some of them have accomplished amazing things....Yes, we have Chavez, and yes, football also has great history in german players......But that "magic" that seems to flow from Ronaldinho Gaúcho is just unique....That's exactly the feeling someone has when watching Sanchez, he just seems to have born to express that perfection boxing is supposed to have....When I read in that comment the "Is the Ronaldinho of Boxing" I was like ..."yeah, that was what I was looking to describe what watching salvador sanchez feels like"...pure magic...

Beautifully done, and, as always, brilliantly presented. I don't suppose there are too many old G's still around who remember how great Wilfredo Gomez was, and the way in which Salvador expertly dealt with his challenge was perfection, and a measure of how great he was, and would have become even more so, had he not been taken. His title defence against Azumah Nelson proved with hindsight to be one of the best ring performances ever. Pat Cowdell used to suffer from dreadful hand pain after almost every fight, and said that he hadn't after Sanchez as, over 15 hard rounds, he had never been able to land anywhere near solidly with either hand, and Pat was fast. Salvador was outstanding. R.I.P. ❤

Watching the Lopez fights, I'm struck with Sanchez' defensive prowess. But watch those fights over in slow-motion and you realize just how much and how hard Lopez got hit. Massive respect for Danny Lopez to have the ability to take that much punishment, the toughness to stand in, and then the wherewithal to just shake his head walking away, knowing that he had fought a tremendous fight but Salvador Sanchez was on a totally different level.

Ok, that kind of consistent head/body movement is not common for a few reasons... 1) Most people think boxing in terms of "punching" as opposed to a more complete "total body" art. 2) Most people can ONLY see boxing in terms of wins & KOs as a result of punches. 3) Most people have big egos and therefore emphasize "punching" over things like slipping, stepping, feinting etc. All the above is common among all levels of students and coaches of boxing. Once in a while a genius level boxer/or coach comes along and understands it. You dont have to eliminate your ego, but you must be able to control it, to discipline it. Without the humility, without the control of the ego, you will never have the self-discipline to practice and train for countless hours of head movement, body movement, specific conditioning for those, and you will instead mainly emphasize punching. Sanchez must have either had a small ego or a heart big enough to discipline and control his ego. Work that core, work it some more.
